Matthew,

I can't thank you enough for the thoroughness of your reply.  You answered all of my questions.

Rod describes the sub-domain issue here, and it looks reasonably easy to do:

Again, many thanks!

Hi,

My current website is built using Adobe Muse:  http://www.johnblaustein.com/

I am considering moving from Muse to Backlight because of how Backlight's responsive design seamlessly works on desktop, tablet and mobile phone devices.  (Muse has become a little more complicated than I can keep up with.)  In addition to my website, I use TTG's Grid Gallery Plugin for LR, now the 2018 version, for making web galleries for clients.  I love how this plug-in displays images, and I would like to incorporate that into my website.

I have a few questions regarding the migration from Muse to Backlight:

1) Looking at my current site, will I be able to duplicate the look and functionality using Backlight?  I know my slideshows will be replaced by galleries--thumbnail grid clickable to slideshow--but I'd like the menu structure to remain pretty much the same.

2) If I buy and install Backlight, I would like to leave my current site in place until I'm ready to go live with Backlight.  I read a post on this forum, and if I understand it correctly, I can set up a sub-domain on my current site and install Backlight there.  When I'm ready to go live, I would simply delete all of the files of my current site and copy the Backlight files from the sub-domain to the main domain home folder.  For example, I could create www.johnblaustein.com/backlight (or backlight.johnblaustein.com) and use that for my development work.  Is that correct?  Is it really that simple?

3) Is it possible in Backlight to have a gallery that simply displays a slideshow without starting at a thumbnail grid page?  This would be similar to how my current site looks and operates.  Is this what the Galleria add-on does?  Or is this Theater?

4) Can you explain, please, what Theater does that Galleria doesn't do?  (I've looked at the samples, but I'm still not clear.)

5) Are there any online tutorials?  I've looked at the 2-3 YouTube videos, but I'm wondering if there are others.

Thanks very much for your help.

John
