Well, it's been another frustrating week. Things I need to get straight:
Is it better to use only one php plugins folder to house the php file and CSS that would control aspects of all the pages in a site?
(My site is structured like this: A portal built in CE4 AutoIndex, with two navigation buttons, each leading to a CE4 Pages that contains CE4 galleries under the appropriate tab)
With the PHP file, I wish to have a the same blurred background image under every page.
This technique is explained here: http://ce3wiki.theturninggate.net/doku. … ound_image
Also, I want a dynamic masthead in all but the AutoIndex pages.
I've done parts of all these effects previously, in CE3. But I'm trying to learn CE4 while implementing all these effects throughout my site.
Needless to say, I'm getting a plethora of error messages. And I haven't begun to work the new Publisher and the TTG-BE thing.
I installed the PUBLISHER plugin within Lightroom 4.4 and it will not work. I use Lightroom in French.
Log of the error reads :
Plug-in error log for plug-in at: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/Modules/CE4-Publisher.lrplugin
**** Error 1
Une erreur de type indéterminée s'est produite.
branding image file supporting_files/ttg-icon.png not found
**** Error 2
Une erreur de type indéterminée s'est produite.
branding image file supporting_files/ttg-icon.png not found
Why is this? Where is that ttg-icon.png file?
I have a site that is structured in this way :
CE4 AUTOINDEX - to - CE4 PAGES - to - CE4 GALLERIES. The AutoIndex works like a portal; it leads to one of two CE4 Pages; each PAGES contains multiple CE4 GALLERIES.
Since the AutoIndex is only used to choose witch CE4 PAGES to choose, I guess I should consider each of these as top level., and install ttg-be there. Am I right? Ditto for the PUBLISHER plugin, also.
I built this site last year (lucnadeau.ca in CE3 and now I'm reworking it in CE4. Since this will now be a bilingual site, I decided to create a sort of portal page to direct viewers to either language. I built this page in AutoIndex.
Would I have been better off with Pages?
Anyway, the layout is simply an image with a logo on it and the two navigational links over it. For the moment, I do not display the block and use the grid to display the single jpeg image. However, I'm having a hard time finding the right size so it won't be to small on the computer monitor (I use a 1920 x 1080) and yet not be too big on the tablet. The iPhone does not seem to pose a problem. You can see my test page here :http://pideja.ca/nadeautest
Do you think I could use a CSS sheet to control this image, similar to the technique used for "Dynamic Masthead" ? Or use a variant of the "Add a Background-image" script?
Is there a way to have the actual navigation item corresponding to the page highlighted?
Like, if I'm in the GALLLERY and the navigation menu items are "HOME", "GALLERIES", "ABOUT" and "CONTACT", "GALLERIES" would be highlighted somehow (bold or background or text label of a different color)?
Thank you.
I solved the problem by not showing the masthead and by placing a graphic ID within the Content/Description area of the page.
(In the test version it's a bit large, but I'll reduce it later...)
I do not display the grid.
Also, as per Rod's suggestion in another post I filed this morning, I reduced the break point down to 300px. This solved my navigation menu issue in pad and mobile formats.
http://pideja.ca/nadeautest/ This is only the test page...leads nowhere yet.
Lots of tweaking to do before it's comlplete, but beguining to see how CE4 is a ig improvement.
Thank you Matthew and Rod.
This is my test page : www.pideja.ca/nadeautest/
It's built with CE4 AutoIndex.
Notice that the navigation links appear "natural" in full size, but when in pad and mobile sizes, the word MENU appears.
Did Matthew remove a control from AutoIndex CE4?
In CE3 AutoIndex, there was a Navigation Menu Item called "Navigation Container/Mobile Navigation Type/Natural" witch caused the navigation on pads and mobiles to show up as individual inks rather than the three lines or the word "menu"...I can't find it in CE4!
Example : http://www.nathaliemoliavko-visotzky.com/ Notice that the two navigation links (français and english) appear in all formats, full screen, pad and mobile.
I want to place a line image (black on a transparent background) in the grid of a CE4 Page layout. How can I do this if Lightroom only saves jpeg rather than png? Can I use a tiff instead or will Lightroom convert it to jpeg?
I should know this: how do I make it so that, when collapsed, the navigation links show up rather than the term "menu" or the three bars? I only have two navigation links to show.
Is there a way to check these things without having to go on line every time?
Oops! The was a space in the folder name. I've corrected and re-uploading.
As a follow-up here is the main page auto index file content :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<album>
<thumbnail>thumbnail.jpg</thumbnail>
<title>LUC NADEAU</title>
<description>oeuvres récentes</description>
<url></url>
</album>
So, what's wrong? The thumbnail won't show.
I'm trying to publish a small web site that contains 5 galeries using TTG Pages 3.7.3.
Somehow, the thumbnails for the gallery index don't show.
The "album titles" do appear but the thumbnails not.
In TTG Pages, I indicated the "Album Thumbnail" as thumbnail.jpg and, accordingly put an image titled "thumbnail.jpg".
Also, in the galleries, the same setup.
I've looked around and I can't find what I missed?
