#76 Re: Backlight Support » Thanks Matt and Ben for making my life so much easier!! » 2016-05-12 09:43:23

I have to agree.  It is rare that a 1.0 release of anything so customizable is so fluid.  I''m impressed.  I used the discount code, but quite honestly this is such a feat, it is justified without it (at the least).
This coupled with the amazingly helpful forum responses of Rod, Matthew and Ben really make this amazing.  I know very little html, but the process is very smooth.

#77 Re: Backlight Support » Templates gone after update to 1.0.1 » 2016-05-12 09:27:54

I reupload the upgraded files and now it works.
I have it in the top level because that is where Bluehost wants the primary site

#78 Re: Backlight Support » Templates gone after update to 1.0.1 » 2016-05-12 06:24:31

i lost all of my templates too.  i only uploaded the specified files.  when i went into BL admin, it said it was updating.  then i cleared the cache.
(i even redownloaded the zip file today)

the website no longer works and no templates are listed.

if you need any info, let me know.
the site is www.joliverbrooks.com

iPhone 6s plus.  the latest iOS 9.3.1
i've tried this several times and it repeats itself.  i'll see if i can figure out anything else as to when it happens.

#80 Backlight Support » best way to update BL? » 2016-05-11 15:34:12

i saw the BL 1.0.1 update was released.  thanks.  i know that updating is supposed to be easier than CE4.
what is the best way of doing it?  dragging the BL folder over to the server would also replace my CSS and PHplugin.  \

I guess the two questions are how to non-destructively update
1. BL on the server
2. the TTG plug-in in lightroom

thanks

#81 Re: Backlight Support » Change testing site to live site » 2016-05-11 15:08:33

i moved from a test directory to an upper level one and the images did not require re-uploading.  i did, of course, have to change the URL in the BL page (and change the URL of my background page in the custom CSS file).

#82 Re: Backlight Support » favicon location? » 2016-05-11 15:06:26

i got it to work.  though safari on mac os 10.11 does not display the favicon in the address bar any longer.  only if you click in the address bar (or bookmark a site).  this is not a backlight issue, it is just the way safari displays it now.

the slide in menu correctly displays on the iPhone in portrait mode and works correctly. however, if you bring up the website, then rotate the phone to landscape, the menu button no longer works.  reloading the site in landscape makes it work correctly.  (oddly, loading in landscape and rotating to portrait is fine).

#84 Re: Backlight Support » Masthead resize in mobile view » 2016-05-09 13:58:40

thanks for the info.  rod, what did you use?  it scales fine in your backlight sample site.

#85 Re: Backlight Support » Masthead resize in mobile view » 2016-05-09 10:19:36

thank you.  i guess the container size is imposed in BL?  i didn't specify the container size.

#87 Backlight Support » assign templates to gallery pages » 2016-05-09 03:47:20

hi cannot seem to get my page template to appear on a gallery page.  that is, when i click Galleries on the home page, the standard template is used that shows all my albums.  I tried assigning my template (i only have one now) to album and album set in the designer, but it still uses the default.

i must be overlooking something...

it seems neither support transparency from within BL designer.  can they be set from within the css?

thanks

#89 Backlight Support » transparent background does not work in masthead » 2016-05-07 14:30:03

Replies: 1

within the template designer, for the masthead (displayed as header) i chose background color, and pasted in the code for a semi-transparent background rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.07).  the actual displayed background is white, not semitransparent.  this is unlike the same code i used for the main tray, which is semitransparent.

is there a different way i should do this?

#90 Re: Backlight Support » Return of my header nemesis in php » 2016-05-07 13:24:35

oh.  ok thanks.  it is my lack of html knowledge.  that is helpful.

#91 Re: Backlight Support » Return of my header nemesis in php » 2016-05-07 10:45:38

sorry.  the parentheses seems to have been counted as part of the link www.joliverbrooks.com/new

I may have to wait if i cannot back-construct it.

i guess it is rather confusing for me given the description in new and old PHPlugin files. (this could reflect my lack of knowledge about how things work). the new PHplugin files says:
*    ttg_header_bottom
*      - return value ignored
*      - called last in the header section
*      - encompasses nothing; use to insert content at the end of the header section

which is very similar to text in the CE4 PHPlugin file
*        ttg_head_end
*     -    return value ignored
*    -    called just before ending head tag
*    -    encompasses nothing; use to insert content with the head, after all other TTG head content has processed

#92 Re: Backlight Support » Return of my header nemesis in php » 2016-05-07 09:36:59

(i removed the css link.  i had thought it would work via advance customization but wasn't sure)

In CE4, my script was in ttg_head_end with a stage specificied in ttg_header_masthead and was fine. (see www.joliverbrooks.com)

if i put my scripts that used to be in ttg_head_end into ttg_footer_bottom, then the edge block (with the logo, minor animation) does not appear and the page contents are reduced to a narrow window (see:  www.joliverbrooks.com/new).

new PHplugin info:
function ttg_footer_bottom( $style, $path ) {
    echo '
    <style>
        .edgeLoad-EDGE-2227651377 { visibility:hidden; }
    </style>

    <!--Adobe Edge Runtime-->
        <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="/edge_includes/edge.6.0.0.min.js"></script>
    <script>
       AdobeEdge.loadComposition("jbRotateBlk300", "EDGE-2227651377", {
        scaleToFit: "none",
        centerStage: "both",
        minW: "0px",
       maxW: "undefined",
        width: "325px",
        height: "110px"
    }, {"dom":{}}, {"dom":{}});
    </script>
    <!--Adobe Edge Runtime End-->
    }
    ';
} // END

function ttg_header_masthead_top( $style, $path ) {
    echo '
<div id="masthead" class="block-id masthead clearfix">
            <div class="mantle clearfix">
                <div class="core clearfix">
            <p>&nbsp</p>
            <div id="Stage" class="EDGE-2227651377">
            </div>
            </div>
        </div>

    </div> <!-- #masthead -->

    ';
    return true;
} // END

#93 Re: Backlight Support » Return of my header nemesis in php » 2016-05-07 07:58:52

I guess I misunderstood matt's comment.  (I know I'm not versed in css). Did he mean that the edge file could only appear in the footer?

I may also not understand what a hook is. The function tag_head_top does not include a hook but the function ttg_footer_bottom does?

#94 Re: Backlight Support » Return of my header nemesis in php » 2016-05-07 07:21:06

Thanks.  I'm doing something incorrectly.
i removed the ttg_header_top and _bottom functions from the phplugins file.  i added the following:

In my css, i added:
body {
  background: url(/new/backlight/custom/phplugins/images/backgroundSplash29.jpg) no-repeat center center fixed;
  -webkit-background-size: cover;
  -moz-background-size: cover;
  -o-background-size: cover;
  background-size: cover;
        }

h1 {
    <!--Adobe Edge Runtime-->
        <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="/edge_includes/edge.6.0.0.min.js"></script>
    <script>
       AdobeEdge.loadComposition("jbRotateBlk300", "EDGE-2227651377", {
        scaleToFit: "none",
        centerStage: "both",
        minW: "0px",
       maxW: "undefined",
        width: "325px",
        height: "110px"
    }, {"dom":{}}, {"dom":{}});
    </script>
    <!--Adobe Edge Runtime End-->
    }

In my PHplugins file i now just have:
function ttg_header_top( $style, $path ) {
    echo '
        <style>
        .edgeLoad-EDGE-2227651377 { visibility:hidden; }
        </style>
    ';
}

function ttg_footer_bottom( $style, $path ) {
    echo '
    <link rel="stylesheet" href=“/backlight/custom/css/jbcustom.css"/>
    <script src="//use.typekit.net/lfm3nrq.js"></script>
    <script>try{Typekit.load({ async: true });}catch(e){}</script>

    <style>
        .edgeLoad-EDGE-2227651377 { visibility:hidden; }
    </style>

    <!--Adobe Edge Runtime-->
    <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="/edge_includes/edge.6.0.0.min.js"></script>

    ';
} // END

function ttg_header_masthead_top( $style, $path ) {
    echo '
<div id="masthead" class="block-id masthead clearfix">
            <div class="mantle clearfix">
                <div class="core clearfix">
            <p>&nbsp</p>
            <div id="Stage" class="EDGE-2227651377">
            </div>
            </div>
        </div>

    </div> <!-- #masthead -->

    ';
    return true;
} // END

i decided i should leave my CE4 site as the main directory while i figure things out.  i moved backlight and index.php to a directory called /new.  that works fine if i go to joliverbrooks.com/new but the gallery link still goes back to the upper level galleries folder.  (i have the .htaccess file into /new as well)
how do i get it to redirect within the /new directory for testing purposes?

#97 Re: Backlight Showcase » Another Test Site » 2016-05-06 11:01:59

thanks much.  and thanks for the css viewing info.  (i'm not much knowledgeable about css, so this is helpful)

#98 Re: Backlight Support » Talk to me like I'm a 10 year old » 2016-05-05 10:40:28

i'm not an expert in either CE4 or backlight.  what i've seen of backlight while working with it today is that the sites are far faster and have a much more modern feel to them in terms of animation and responsiveness.  The interface is different and I think (so far) a lot more accessible than CE4.

Hi Rod,
you had helped get this working in CE4 a little while back.  i included an adobe edge file in my header.  i've tried variants of the functions (header_bottom; in the new php file, but the animated masthead will not appear.

(i've copied over the adobe includes as i found previously, i have to put them in multiple directories)

my OLD php file included:

function ttg_head_end( $style, $path ) {
    echo '
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="/phplugins/css/custom.css" />
    <script src="//use.typekit.net/lfm3nrq.js"></script>
    <script>try{Typekit.load({ async: true });}catch(e){}</script>

    <style>
        .edgeLoad-EDGE-2227651377 { visibility:hidden; }
    </style>

    <!--Adobe Edge Runtime-->
    <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="/edge_includes/edge.6.0.0.min.js"></script>
<script>
   AdobeEdge.loadComposition("jbRotateBlk300", "EDGE-2227651377", {
    scaleToFit: "none",
    centerStage: "both",
    minW: "0px",
    maxW: "undefined",
    width: "325px",
    height: "110px"
}, {"dom":{}}, {"dom":{}});
</script>
<!--Adobe Edge Runtime End-->

    ';
} // END

function ttg_header_masthead( $style, $path ) {
    echo '
<div id="masthead" class="block-id masthead clearfix">
            <div class="mantle clearfix">
                <div class="core clearfix">
            <p>&nbsp</p>
            <div id="Stage" class="EDGE-2227651377">
            </div>
            </div>
        </div>

    </div> <!-- #masthead -->

    ';
    return false;
} // END

***********************************************
The REVISED one that doesn't work includes:

function ttg_head_bottom( $style, $path ) {
    echo '
    <link rel="stylesheet" href=“/backlight/custom/css/jbcustom.css"/>
    <script src="//use.typekit.net/lfm3nrq.js"></script>
    <script>try{Typekit.load({ async: true });}catch(e){}</script>

    <style>
        .edgeLoad-EDGE-2227651377 { visibility:hidden; }
    </style>

    <!--Adobe Edge Runtime-->
    <script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" src="/edge_includes/edge.6.0.0.min.js"></script>
<script>
   AdobeEdge.loadComposition("jbRotateBlk300", "EDGE-2227651377", {
    scaleToFit: "none",
    centerStage: "both",
    minW: "0px",
    maxW: "undefined",
    width: "325px",
    height: "110px"
}, {"dom":{}}, {"dom":{}});
</script>
<!--Adobe Edge Runtime End-->

    ';
} // END

function ttg_header_masthead_top( $style, $path ) {
    echo '
<div id="masthead" class="block-id masthead clearfix">
            <div class="mantle clearfix">
                <div class="core clearfix">
            <p>&nbsp</p>
            <div id="Stage" class="EDGE-2227651377">
            </div>
            </div>
        </div>

    </div> <!-- #masthead -->

    ';
    return false;
} // END
