I'm also experiencing a problem with LR generated watermarks. I publish everything through LR. I'm using Publisher 5.0.1 and have tried on a test page using hero images https://tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/galler … down-2020/ and also on a Galleria test page (now deleted) and the watermark will not display.
The push metadata option is not checked and I have tried deleting and re-publishing plus clearing browser cache to no avail.
Any pointers?
Hi Rod,
Your code for mobile menu suppression works a treat. I find myself with more time on my hands in these days of lockdown to do things I ought to have done a while back.
Likewise, it goes where it should when I click "Accept"
Hi Matt & Ben,
Very fast update to BL3 from BL2 on both my sites. Got the GA and Cookie warning on the first site updated but not on the second. Will now test on other devices but thanks again for a slick upgrade path.
Many thanks for another great year of service. Long may it continue.
Season's greetings to Matt, Ben, Rod and Daniel for the products and support.
Thanks Rod,
I'll try that and see what happens.
Hi Ken and Matt,
Happy 2019 to you.
I saw this thread and it helped be sort out my Exhibitions page https://tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/exhibitions/
Now, I noticed Ken's tables all align in terms of columns but not in mine. I wanted to use the table-striped feature as it makes reading easier.
I cannot see anything in Ken's source that suggests controlling column widths as per another sticky on table formatting but if I try and use column widths then the striped feature goes awry as does some content placement.
Other than by padding content in the columns, how do I align my tables so that column widths line up on the example page above?
Grateful as always for any pointers.
I have to say I am not taken with the editor yet. Perseverance required I suspect but then going from DOS version of Word to Windows then the ribbon all posed usability issues!
I expect this old dog will have to learn some new tricks.
I'd just like to thank Matt,Ben, Rod & Daniel for all their efforts delivering and supporting Backlight 2 this year. A giant leap forward all round.
All the best for 2019 and whatever that brings for Backlight.
Many thanks to Matt, Ben and Rod & Daniel.
I updated my TLD to BL2 today having done the photography site the week BL2 was released. Everything running like clockwork including editing a rudimentary phplugins file. That was as simple as it could get which is getting close to Einstein's reputed theory of simplicity in that 'Things should be as simple as possible but no simpler'
Updating is so much easier and big thanks for Cookies and GDPR functionality. It looks like it is meant to be there as opposed to an add-on by a third party.
Drop Matt an email asking him to put all your purchases under the one email account. He fixed this problem for me with one of my add-ons. You will then have to get the add-on via the shop again but using the email you have asked Matt to assign.
It all worked out for me.
You will have to email him though.
Thanks Daniel. I've done that now. I was expecting to see something in the column where we see reinstall, so emboldened available version equals update available then.
Got to be the easiest updating mechanism in the life history of TTG. Keep it coming.
Thanks
Thanks for fixing this Ben.
All working very nicely thanks. One thing I noticed though when I installed the update was that pangolin-page is showing available version of 2.0.1 in bold text bot there is no option to update or reinstall the module. I wondered if this was a bug as pangolin-galleria was emboldened with the option to update and once done lost the emboldening.
Thanks Ben
Morning chaps,
Just a quick question regarding LR Publisher version numbers. In LR the plugin manager tells me that the version is 4.0 yet within the admin console for Backlight Modules it is 4.0.1.
Should these be reporting the same version? Maybe it is a limitation of LR not to drop down to a tertiary number?
Thanks
I updated all the modules earlier today for the fixes so good to know that you have replicated the bugette Rod. I do like the new interface though and I expected a few niggles. Still outstanding value for money.
I am slowly working through BL2. The interface is much clearer and bolder and having just run an update a vast improvement on previous ways of working.
I am trying to work out why tokens are not displaying though. This album,https://tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/galleries/phone/album/ uses a template that I call Galleria_token_grid, as do quite a few other albums. The tokens are not displaying in BL2.
I have checked the template and they are enabled and I have cleared the template cache and re-published the album after installing the new Lightroom publisher to no avail.
Am I missing a trick?
As always, grateful for pointers.
All sorted Ben.
I had to re-buy for £0.00 the Galleria module after Matt changed over the default email address for me last night. The penny dropped this morning.
I had at some point in history bought the Galleria module using one email address whilst the others were bought using a different one - a senior moment at the time but a use case extension if nothing else.
All looking good at the moment so will take another in-depth look tonight.
Many thanks.
Hi Ben,
I have got through to the admin console and done all the updates but Galleria is missing so I'll email Matt again as that Send Owl discount was sent to another email account .
The red box message says unable to find module pangolin-galleria.
Hi Ben,
Yes I have. I have re-uploaded and now have just got through to the admin pages thanks. Message to self - do not start upgrades after a long day...
Evening chaps,
I tried to upgrade to BL2 tonight. I got as far as the green box confirmation that BL2 was installed correctly but on clicking the Continue to Backlight button I get an error, This Page isn't working, too many redirects.
This happens in Firefox and Chrome and both suggest clearing cookies but that does not work.
https://tomowens.openpoint.co.uk/backli … installer/
So the steps I took to upgrade were:
1) Moved everything other than Custom and Data folders into a separate folder
2)Uploaded /installer /modules .DS_store .htaccess and index.php to the existing backlight folder
3)I left .htacces and other files in the root of the sub-domain
Not sure what to do now.
Any thoughts?
Thanks for letting us know Rod. Always sad when this happens.
I was reading up last night Ben until my eyes could not take it any more. One thing that was consistent was as you state in the site functionality section.
The need for explicit statements about why the data is being collected that have check boxes on contact forms that cannot be pre-checked in any state. Actioning the check box has to a clear action by the user, regardless of whether they have actually read the conditions. The language has to be unambiguous - obviously that is down to the site owner
There also needs to be an ability for a visitor to demand to be forgotten.
So that suggests contact forms could do with the option of adding conditions to approve capturing the contact details for email contact and also to opt out aka demand to be forgotten with check boxes associated with gathering data and requests to destroy data.
That begs the question as to whether contact data is written to database tables and if it is then ticking a check box should run a script to purge the record. That suggests that there would be some form of ID associated with the 'ticker' so this bit is a tad deeper than I imagined or have I got that wrong?
Calling all European users of Backlight.
Are any of you using GDPR compliant plugins and if so what ones?
Like many people I have pushed this to one side but it looks like developers all over the globe are preparing for the switch over. It looks like my old notice won't fit the bill and with 20,000,000 Euros or 4% of turnover as potential fines I expect little people will be picked off as easy targets.
Big thanks to Ben for rolling out a fix for this issue over the weekend.
Things just get better and www.cloud-tree.co.uk were very supportive in providing details of where the trip took place that helped Ben enormously.
