Hi Michael, the CellNumber metadata item should work, which is detailed here: http://backlight.theturninggate.net/doc … _exclusive
You'll need to republish the the photos after changing the metadata. Enabling the 'Push metadata without updating existing images" Publisher option will make this a fast process.
That would be fine.
It doesn't work right now and looks like publisher issue.
I set "Metadata One" token to "{CellNumber} von {NumImages} - {Title}" cleared all caches and republished. Still only the {Title] is displayed.
I downloaded master.sq3 and searched in the table "photo-metadata" for the photos, I just republished.
"163551" "163551" "70958_10819" "_CellNumber_" "{CellNumber}" "2017-07-02 14:51:58"
All photos that have a _CellNumber_ set, have a value of "{CellNumber}"
Plain Album.
I assume, the settings are there but only have an effect, if one of the addons is activated. In Okapi there used to be grid icons in albums. Right?
Edit: There was a map icon and a permalink in Okapi. In Pangolin the color labels show up, but the map icon doesn't as it used to.
Ah, I see. I had informal print orders based on the cell numbers in the past. Will have to come up with something else.
Could a sequential number be integrated in the metadata display?
How about the grid icons?
I changed color and background color and also toggled the on and off switch, but on the thumbnails I see no change.
I miss the option to activate cell numbering for thumbnails with pangolin.
I tried all styles, classic, masonry and justified. Have I missed something?
If not, will it come back with a later version?
Edit: I also don't see grid icons

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood an copypasted the URL with which I got transferred to Your Site.
https://fotos.michilge.de/backlight/des … _templates
And Yes, my sit is loadaed over https.
I only got to see the DL button after entering via the button on my template list. No matter which browser I use.

This "DNT 1" irritates me. My browser is not configured to send it.
The Internet Explorer, I also tried, is as out of the box.
Here's one from chrome, where I see no DNT but "Referrer Policy:no-referrer-when-downgrade" whatever that means:

I also tried Internet Explorer, which I never configured in any way.
I entered my template listing, clicked the "Download Template Presets" button, clicked a miniature. Same thing.
Did this some minutes before this post. In case it might help, my current IP is 83.135.6.33
I tried it both in Firefox and in Chrome. Allowed all cookies, scripts, disabled adblocker.
Hmmm, in the blog it says "In the preview, click the “Import Preset as New Template” button."
When I try to import the downloaded file backlight-preset-preset-redheaded-page.txt, Backlight gives me a syntax error.
So I thought the preset has a different syntax an needs to be imported directly from the presets page on theturninggate.net.
edit: The same with backlight-preset-preset-soonchunhyang-page.txt
Yes, and it takes me to the presets page, where I find four presets. When I click one of them there is a blue download button but I miss the button to import to BL.
Hi,
all I see on http://theturninggate.net/template-presets/ is a download button above the large screenshot that results in downloading a .txt to my local disc.
What do I miss?
Nice weekend
Michael
Some very noteworthy aspects that turned up. As we already wandered Off Topic:
A more fictional approach to colour vision is in Jasper Fforde's novel "Shades of Grey" which I like very much.
Also reminds me of a small colour vision acuity test, I once completed on the web.
I perhaps wouldn't have noticed if the code weren't so cleanly indented
Yep. Thank You.
Hi all,
in the field "Copyright Attribution" of the footer section I have a string with a link:
— Michael Hilgenstock, Sprockhövel. Alle Rechte vorbehalten. All rights reserved. Diese Seite verwendet Cookies. Wie Sie Cookies deaktivieren können, erfahren Sie im <a href="https://fotos.michilge.de/info.php">Impressum</a>.
other than with okapi the link is not displayed in the footer.
What could have gone wrong?
Best wishes
Michael
Yes, I like it that before deleting a template Backlight checks if it is still assigned somewhere. I also discovered this just now playing with the first pangolin templates, but honestly, I don't know, if this check hasn't been around for longer.
@Matthew: I changed that and it works well.
@Rod: I tried out quite a few of those and didn't like them.
Those plugins all have the bad habit to fetch third party code from Facebook or elsewhere with every page view. This would also happen to viewers who do not want any contact with facebook or twitter.
I prefer plain and honest links that establish connection in the moment when they are actively clicked. Just the kind we used to have in CE4:
<a target= "_blank" href="https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u=<?php the_permalink(); ?>" title="Facebook"><i class="fa fa-fw fa-facebook"></i><span>Teilen</span></a>
With pangolin the theme's file /template-parts/content.php no longer contains the footer itsself but uses a "function post_entry_footer()" which is defined in /inc/theme_posts.php.
Since in that file all functions are thoroughly checked with
if ( ! function_exists( 'post_entry_footer' ) )
I only had to create a minimal child theme and copy that function into my child-theme's functions.php and modify it to my needs.
You can see it working in a blog post here:
https://fotos.michilge.de/blog/tsg-spro … ch-u23-13/
And here's a way to do it: http://ttg-tips-and-tricks.barbeephoto. … -pangolin/
Thank you for sharing the tips.
I was looking forward to your how-to and I will certainly follow it. But I would also like to have sharing links in the immediate context of the post that shares a link to that particular post. I'm not sure yet, whether links in the footer might better link to the home of my site.
Might well be that I also take the custom theme path.
Hello Rainer,
one question before I start with loco translator:
When select a line that contains something in square brackets like "Search for: [ label ]", the brackets are not repeated in the fiel for the source text. Will I have to repeat the bracketed part in the translation?
Glück auf!
Michael
Hi,
I uploaded the patch and it works here. Thank You.
I had to visit the customizer to set the visibility of the featured image in single post pages to hidden and unceck the option for the particular post. Hiding it in the editor for a particular post would make it invisible on the excerpts page too.
Another thing I found is in the footer of the WP post. The links to the categories and tags of the post does not have the usual icons before each entry.
In theme-posts.php I believe I found the place where the lists are bult in function post_entry_footer(). The classes "screen-reader-text", "cat-list", "tags-list" are being applied in this function.
"screen-reader-text" is defined in style.css, but the other two are undefined.
An example is here:
https://fotos.michilge.de/blog/sc-pader … hoevel-21/
Last question for now: is function post_entry_footer() also the place where I might insert social media sharing links into the post (in a child theme of course)?
Bye for now
Michael
Hello,
I created a new pangolin theme for WP and also updated to WP 4.8.
The switch "Hide Featured Image on Single Post" in WordPress seems to have no effect with my pangolin theme.
Can this be adressed by use of a child theme?
Yours, Michael
...
And if you double-click the publisher, there's an option in its settings to only upload thumbnails. This will skip re-building the larger images, and will save you some time.
I made this minor observation:
When "Push metadata without updating existing photos" is checked, "Publish thumbnails without updating other renditions" is greyed out.
When "Push metadata ..." is unchecked, "Push thumbnails ..." can be checked.
When "Push metadata ..." is checked again, "Push thumnails ..." gets grey out again, but its state remains checked.
Probably due to a limitation in LR.
Thank You Matthew. That solved it. The fresh install of Filezilla on my new computer was still set to ASCII.
Will get another hour of sleep and then explore the changes with Pangolin.
Hello Rod,
one example is https://fotos.michilge.de/galleries/TSG … son_16-17/
It's an album index page. In the breadcrumbs and in the menues the FA-icons don't show. If You click a thumbnail into on of the galleries it's the same there. The Photoswipe presentation of single large images are affected too.
The same with my Backlight admin pages.
