#26 Re: Backlight Support » Using an image as a link » 2018-01-16 07:22:04

I just noticed that on a smartphone there are issues with the panorama.  On my Pixel 2XL and my wife's Galaxy S8+, all works fine when you rotate the phone.  On the Galaxy S7 the display is in separate screen sized photos, not connected.  On a Droid Turbo 2, it is similar to the Galaxy.  A friend has the MOTO phone that takes attachments (camera, projector, etc) and it does not work on his.

Any suggestions for overcoming this issue?  I am running Oreo (8.1).

UPDATE - Monday

Made link photos 2000 px wide, excluded the slice albums from search...  all is looking pretty good now.

Suggestions are appreciated.  (Design suggestions as well before this goes live.)

Thanks to all

I'll look at the sizes of the images.  I set the height , keeping the aspect ratio, to 400 pixels for the panorama slices.  I'll shrink the link photos to speed it up.  I'll also try a rename or since the pano slices are in their own albums, try excluding them from search.

This may be categorized incorrectly, but it applies to the 'image as a link' and 'panorama' threads.

As part of the panorama solution using slice in Photoshop and then Theater in Backlight, there are bunches of slices of each panorama image in the photos folder of the panorama galleries.  If I perform a SEARCH looking for the term pano (all of the panorama images are labeled with a pano suffix by Photoshop), I not only get the real panoramic images, but also the slices (not all of them, for some reason) but a lot of them.  Is there any way to filter a folder (or folders) to be ignored by SEARCH?

On a related note, is there a way to customize the SEARCH page using the Backlight tool ?

Thanks

Is there any way to post images in an album and have a click on the image execute a link?  I am trying to layout my panoramas and would like to set up a page with the original images, allowing a user to click on the image and go to another page.

Here is a link to a page I am working on.

http://caddinfo.com/photo-now-backlight … -selector/

I would like to make the images larger and allow a click on any image to take me to another page (such as

http://caddinfo.com/photo-now-backlight … -panorama/  )

I would like it to look something like this mockup

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1GwVFuK … sp=sharing

Any thoughts / ideas?

Thanks,

richam...

I'll try that also.

I get a delay when I pan... is there a setting that I should change?  Here is a link

Thanks

Update...  I reduced the height and it appears to be working now.

Hi Rod

It appears that my custom templates for CE4 are no longer in Lightroom.  The standard ones are there.  So I don't have a way to modify the CE4 Stage to eliminate the masthead, etc.  I seem to have forgotten how to work in CE4.  Backlight is so much easier...

#34 Re: Backlight Support » Panorama » 2018-01-12 11:06:34

Hi Ben

In response to your first response, when I put the URL for the STAGE page in the Video ID, I get a view of the banner of the STAGE page.

For the latest response, I'm not sure what to so with the css or what to do after I clone the Theater template and give it an ID of "theater-blank"...

If you have time to tinker, I've sent the ftp info and website info via email.

Any help would be appreciated...  It looks like I will need to learn some additional php, css, and html.

#35 Re: Backlight Support » Panorama » 2018-01-12 08:19:53

I have tried a few things...

Here is my original STAGE page
               http://photographs-now.com/stage_panora … -yosemite/

On this page I was able to horizontally pan the images and give them a larger height to make them visible.

My attempts at using STAGE to create a THEATER page may be seen here
               http://caddinfo.com/photo-now-backlight … -panorama/

I am unable to pan the image, as I have not figured out how to work with this type of image.

I have placed some screen shots of the Lightroom Publisher edit pages on Google Drive at
               https://drive.google.com/file/d/1U9C3h- … sp=sharing     (STAGE)
               https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ex8TgR … sp=sharing     (THEATER)

I located an application on-line that appears to do what I would like to see
               https://onextrapixel.com/embed-an-inter … ma-viewer/

Unfortunately, I do not know enough html to figure out how to utilize this within Backlight, if it is even possible.  The code is given in the link above.  Here is a link to their demo.
               http://www.onextrapixel.com/examples/pa … ndex2.html                (DEMO)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Herschel

I have a number of stitched panorama shots that I would like to display in Backlight with scrolling, so that the image can be larger.  Is this possible within the Theater module or do I need external software to enable the display of the images?

I was able to display these in CE4 using Stage.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks... that did it.  Confusion is that some things are set in Lightroom and others in Backlight

I changes it to slug in Top Level Galleries, but see no difference.  Do I need to change something else?

Under CE4, in order to force the various albums in a set into a specific order, I prepended the slug with "001-", "002-", etc.  I have done that in Backlight, but the slug name now does not seem to effect the order.  In the following example, the 007b Album displays before the 001 Album on the website

galleries
003- route-66
     001-route-66-illinois
     007b-cars-of-route-66
         classics
         close-ups
         oldies-but-goodies
         thumbnails
         trucks-and-busses
         unique
     thumbnails
air-show-luke-afb
antelope-canyon

Is there a way to control the order in Backlight Album Sets?

#43 Backlight Support » CE4 Cart Migration Error » 2018-01-06 18:05:21

I installed the cart into the modules folder, and started setup.  I then attempted to migrate my CE4 products, etc to Backlight.  I received an error.  On any page of my site, I got a cart is not available error, and I could go no further.  I removed the module-cart folder and was able to access the site again.  I reinstalled it and received the error message again.

How can I clear the error?

I would like to reuse the pricing scheme.  I can recreate it, but would like to see what I had under CE4.  Is there a humanly readable file with the pricing schedule?

Thanks,
Herschel

#45 Re: Backlight Support » Pangolin Album Set Thumbnail Columns » 2017-12-11 18:35:16

Where do I find the number of columns?  I'm not referring to the thumbnails in the albums, but the thumbnails for the galleries main page...  see www.caddinfo.com/photo-now-backlight.

As you will see, I am also having issues with syntax in the copy.  Do I need to activate DokuWiki for it to be interpreted?  See the Home page and the About page.

#46 Re: Backlight Support » Pangolin Album Set Thumbnail Columns » 2017-12-11 17:00:40

On the galleries main page, I am getting 3 columns of rather large thumbnails representing the various albums within the galleries tree.  Is there any way to make these thumbnails smaller?  I cannot find a setting (like in CE4) to specify the number of columns.

The thumbnails that I am using (or intend on using) are 200x200 px, carried over from my CE4 galleries.

Thanks in advance

Ben

Any ideas from looking at the server?

Herschel

#48 Re: Backlight Support » Can't update this collection error » 2017-12-03 17:59:29

Ben

The site caddinfo.com site is not used.  It is a placeholder for my other sites that are on the server.  There is no .htaccess file.  I have attached a screen capture of the caddinfo.com tree to an email.  Under public_html I just sent you the .htaccess file named public_html.  The .htaccess file from the photo_now_backlight folder (the root directory for the backlight site) is named photo-now-backlight.  I've also sent the .htaccess file from the galleries folder (galleries).  The .htaccess file from one of the albums is named album.

I hope I kept the .htaccess files straight  ;-)

Thanks,
Herschel

They said there were many of these errors...  they picked 2 of them to send.  They also saw the flurry of activity from last night when I sent 147 images up before being cut off.

They were not clear if the cutoff was cumulative such that if I sent the photos up 25 or 50 at a time I could avoid it or not.  As of a few hours ago I was still locked out from Lightroom, although Filezilla worked fine.  They thought it might be a 24 hour lockout, that increases every time I hit the server...  so I've been waiting.

Ben

I was able to get log information just now from GoDaddy.  They indicated that the LimitInternalRecursion error is server wide, and cannot be used to raise the limit for my account unless I move to a private server rather than a shared server.  The limit of 10 seems kind of low to me...

These are the logs  entries from your attempts:
We're seeing this over and over-

Don't know if this will help or not...
