I set up the second publisher instance thanks to your instructions so I am away on that, and happy I am not going to mess my present site up more to the point.
Now working my way through the beginners guide for ce3 ( planning to see if I can get something very basic live, if I can manage that I will take the plunge and buy Ce4 and do the job properly !)
Hit a stumbling block with the FTP, and I am likely to make myself look stupid here but here goes !! in the "Introduction to File Transfer Protocol." which is very well explained it has a picture showing how to fill in the box on the FTP server it shows user name and pass word, in the text it says "User name and password are self-explanatory" however I don't know if this is for the FTP site in my case cyber duck ( I don't have a username and pass word for them as it is the free version I am using at this stage, or the user name and password to log into my control panel with blue host , and if so should my new domain (jameslampard.photographer- an add on domain) have a separate username and password , to avoid clashing with my present site ? my main Domain is with blue host and jameslampard.net
Apologies for probably asking the obvious but I don't want to mess up my present site and although if you know what you are doing it is self explanatory, it is a little more daunting if you don't !!
P.s I will stop using you as a technical support centre after this, I promise !!!!!

I guess as I have bought a new domain assigned as an add on , it will work the same as a sub domain but if I am pleased with the result I can leave it up and not need to change a thing,
As you seem to be an expert in these matters do you have any tips and tricks to have more than one site in publisher ?
I am terrified of messing up the site I have working and would ideally like to set up a completely separate publisher and folders for each site so that all the existing settings remain untouched
I will give it a go then !
If I manage to get the mock up site live I will but Ce4 and do it properly

I used the tutorials when I attempted to Build my site but like I say I do wonder wether the host I was using then before I went over to Bluehost could have been the reason things weren't working !
The sensible move now I have a reliable host would be use another domain and so I don't affect my present site and have another go using Ce3 to make a mock up site to see if I can get as far as getting it online
What I would not want to risk would be causing a conflict with my present site
Presumably it would be complicated having two sites within the same lightroom on the same computer ?
however this could be presumably avoided by using my wifes Laptop ?
If I can get a mock up site online then I will be confident
Hi, I bought Ce3 a while ago and attempted to build a website with it but found it too difficult, in the end I handed my Laptop over to a friend experienced in web design who set it up for me, he said he found it tricky compared to wordpress sites he generally does.
I am very happy with the end result - jameslampard.co.uk and think the Publisher is pure genius.
Basically I would like to have a go at building a site for my Mother who is an artist, she has all her work on Lightroom so it makes sense also the e-commerce option would be great for selling prints, her concern is she will be able to send out updates to her mailing list in the same way she can on her present site (which apart from that feature she hates !!)
Once up and Running the Ce4 site with blog will be awesome for her
My question is, is Ce4 any easier to set up than Ce3 because I don't want to persuade her to buy it and then find myself incapable of setting it up !!!! as I will be on my own with this one
I use Bluehost as Host now and moved over to them when Hugh was about to give up on building my site, from that point on things started to improve so I do wonder whether my previous host may have been part of the problem
