#1 Re: General » Moving to a new computer...Tips? » 2013-08-24 05:45:49

Thyanks Rod ,
much appreciated.
Quite liking Win 8 (after only 3 hours .. and i have set it up so no tiled start screen !)

This new puter might even be able to run LR 5 but we shall see.. slowly slowly as to minimise effect on my site which I had actually got as I like !. always the way .
At least i am very good at backing up ...and to a drive which does not contain an operating system .

More to read on re-associating folders etc before i even attempt anything and have an HDD enclosure arriving tomorrow to transfer files and then put the 2 gig SATA drive in (Image storage.. past and future).
Lost Images before and no way again ...
Thanks again .

Hiya ,
I had LR4 etc set up fine on my old computer (vista business) with images on an internal storage drive separate from  op system.(32 bit)

Can boot in safe mode and the 2Gig storage disk is fine.

Anyone got any tips or pitfalls on transferring LR4 and its file/template associations over to the new Win 8 64 bit computer to minimise having to build site from scratch.
Especially items relating to publisher which I think will be key .
I have read LR 4 info from adobe with regard to possible issues but wondered if there is anything in TTG products that could cause an issue.

Any help greatfully received .

Ahhh that makes sense ..  and have noticed that on other sites on the nexus 7 ( even though i have twitter app on it it insists on opening a web page with no option to use app!)

thanks for the reply.
At least there is a twitter account button on the footer smile

Hi all ,
probably missed something , although i did do a search for twiiter and tweet on support and docs.
Is there a reason the tweet button disappears when viewed on small screens mobiles and tablets ?.

It's a shame as twitter is probably the one I use most  especially on the nexus 7 tablet.

Cheers

No Problem Matt , No i believe CE3 is the one for me for the photo website , Wordpress the way to go for my Rheumatoid Arthritis Blog , and am using Bootstrap for a place i volunteer at ( A UK local Citizens Advice Service) ..it has all i need for a mobile friendly website , plus with Pulse CMS blocks can be put in for an end user to edit .

Well it does say talk about .."whatever"

Just purchased CE3 stage (literally seconds ago!) and haven't yet updated all the other upgrades in what must have been an extremely busy Month for all at TTG.

So I now have  CE3 Stage to play with  as I love before and after and the pano smile saves having to get involved in silverlight et al

So as well as that i need to upgrade CE3 pages, auto index , gallery and  my Host is moving their physical location of it's servers in 3 hours .. don't you just hate it when that happens !!!

Actually it has never happened to me before , but just in case I have a full back up of my PC just done smile

I have had no problems using any of the plugins with the hosts current set up ..lets hope their night;s work goes well tonight , as I will be itching to spend the weekend getting my site as i like it smile

Actually this experience with TTG and the power of it's products,has meant i am looking far more into PHP and responsive design , and other such matters .
Words like CSS and PHPlugins were a mystery , and in effect meant learning a different language .

But with this know -how , it has given me the confidence to take the next step and use tools / scaffolding like font awesome , twitter bootstrap et al .

This is , along with TTG , is the way us non -programmers can have an effect on good web design(I think)

Sorry for the ramble but had to fill the time in prior to eight o'clock UK time  tomorrow when in theory my site will be back without any server config issues .

We shall see .

and TY to Matt, Ben , Rod and any other person involved in this great project/company/community

I doff my hat to you all

#7 Re: General » TTG without the LR web module » 2013-01-05 14:06:12

Indeed ... it seems we are all "Nobodies" but in very good company smile

#8 Re: General » TTG without the LR web module » 2013-01-03 15:58:14

There is also the issue, if it was no longer available , then many , including myself would not upgrade ... therefore no outcry needed as they would be shooting themselves in the foot smile

I have that book and knew about his comments but in all honesty it is not worth any more effort typing about it smile

The following excerpt from Rudyard Kipling's story _Mowgli's Brothers_ appears as a blockquote:

> It was seven o'clock of a very warm evening in the Seeonee hills when Father Wolf woke up from his day's rest, scratched himself, yawned, and spread out his paws one after the other to get rid of the sleepy feeling in their tips. Mother Wolf lay with her big gray nose dropped across her four tumbling, squealing cubs, and the moon shone into the mouth of the cave where they all lived. "Augrh!" said Father Wolf. "It is time to hunt again." He was going to spring down hill when a little shadow with a bushy tail crossed the threshold and whined: "Good luck go with you, O Chief of the Wolves. And good luck and strong white teeth go with noble children that they may never forget the hungry in this world."

Selected works of Rudyard Kipling organized in an ordered list:

1. Mandalay (1890) (poetry)
2. Gunga Din (1890) (poetry)
3. The Jungle Book (1894)
4. The Second Jungle Book (1895)
5. Captains Courageous (1897)
6. Kim (1901)
7. Just So Stories (1902)
8. Puck of Pook's Hill (1906)

You may embed images inline using HTML:

<img alt="Sample image" src="photos/sample.jpg" style="width: 350px;" />

The examples below are styled as code blocks.

The following HTML will render an image inline as shown above, as a block object centered in the text area. Use the _style_ attribute to control image size.

    <img alt="Sample image" src="photos/sample.jpg" style="width: 350px;" />

Add the _float-left_ class to float the image to the left, so that text will wrap around it:

    <img alt="Sample image" src="photos/sample.jpg" style="width: 350px;" class="float-left" />

Add the _float-right_ class to float the image to the right:

    <img alt="Sample image" src="photos/sample.jpg" style="width: 350px;" class="float-right" />

for those without the info page that comes with pages.

It could also just be the txt from the info page ;)

Do what you will with this post :)
