#2 Backlight Support » Provide 'generic' album menu allowing diversion to parent album set » 2016-10-16 18:57:24

I use over a hundred album sets and each hold a selection of customer albums. The single generic album set menu is straight forward allowing a return to my main website page. However I need a single generic menu to provide  a link from every album to its parent album set page. The current option when creating a menu for an album is to choose a specific album set from a list of existing album sets, but this means I would have to create a different album menu  for every customer. Is there any way I could use the URL option to enter some appropriate code to divert to the next level up which would be the parent album set?

I know I could use the breadcrumb method but this shows Galleries as the top menu and I do not wish my customers to be able to view all my galleries as these will be a mix of weddings, commercial, and real estate work. I would be very grateful for any suggestions.
Regards
Ed

#3 Re: Backlight Support » Index.php has caused problem with my website index.htlm intro page » 2016-10-16 17:01:41

I only use the albums, album set and the standard pages they are derived from. I do not use any Contact, About and Info pages. However I have just renamed the index.php file in the root (same as deleting it) and get the error blow as if  some website setting has been changed and my index.html file is being ignored. I also changed the index.php file back to its original name (with my diversion on the first line) and my site works fine again. I have also renamed both index files effectively deleting both and get exactly the same error. I appears that my site now demands to see an index.php file instead of the html ! I can not figure this out.

The error returned  is below :-

Hi Rob/Ben

Yes I did upload  index.php and .htaccess files to the root as I use the basic 'Backlight Standard Page'  plus the  'Basic', 'Album Set', and 'Album' templates together with the 'Menue Sets' in Backlight. I'm not sure if this constitutes using Pages?   Temporarily I have inserted a divert at the top of the index.php file to divert to my index.html  just to get things working and at the moment I can use  backlight and my site satisfactorily.  Thanks for you help, and do let me know if/when a better solution is available. Kind regards
ED

Got Backlight test system working  fine in  sub directory, as I only need the galleries and cart functions . When I came to install cart it requested I install it into a directory which required my backlight directory to be at my website root dir.  So deleted test system and re-installed Backlight to website root directory. Redefined all pages/templates and cart data and appears to work OK. However whenever I now go into my website I am posted to a Backlight page and not my normal web intro (HTML) page. I realised that access was now being rooted via the backlight PHP  index.php file and not my index.HTLM. I tried renaming the php index file so it would not action but now I get the error below whenever I use the normal web address of  www.hedgehogphotographic.com and have to put /index on the end to make it  work....Help i need my site to get back  up and running.

Hi Rod. Thank you for the advice. I have tried locating the screen on Turning gate site to re-download the Backlight 'Publisher+pages' software to try and solve this  problem as you suggest but the only screens available ask me for my order number  and email address.

My paypal transaction only gives me a transaction number  74H24947FU4475638  and your Invoice number #0012054312 but no order number!!

How can I locate and download this software again, I have looked through all my emails and can not fine  any reference to an order number that works. Res Ed

Sorry for not being clear. When I edit any template I can modify most attributes like text size and fonts, size parameters etc etc, but every colour attribute on every template  can not be modified. The template  shows the text of the colour parameter such as 'background colour' or  'border-colour' but directly underneath the wording is a small solid black triangle (pointing downwards). If I click on this  triangle i get three lines of text appear,  firstly the word 'less' or 'more', secondly '(hash2555,255,255,0) or similar, and thirdly the word 'choose'. These three lines are also  repeated many times beyond the end of the template. I have tried modifying the colour numbers but pressing enter just returns the old numbers on the screen.
Below is a screen shot of one of the templates, I will be very interested in your comments. Thanks. Ed

Have got backlight working OK, but can not modify colour attributes in templates. Every colour attribute line has a black triangle underneath  which when pressed displays hash and a six figure colour code or  something like right(255,255,255,0)
These colour related outputs are repeated at the bottom of the template update screen....help
The screen shot can be seen using below are requested.

#10 Backlight Support » Run Backlight in tandem with my current site » 2016-09-15 04:53:17

I have a fully developed web site and have been using CE4 galleries and Cart to support purchasing  of prints within my site for my wedding business. Each of my customer galleries have  several associated pages as well as the CE4 galleries themselves contained in a separate sub directory below the root.

This has worked well  for many years but I feel that Backlight may offer me an opportunity to use its features to support my customer galleries AND their associated pages in a sub directory below the root.

Q: Is this possible... practical.. desirable.
Q2: If so is there any problems that I may encounter, such as renaming directories, using the new cart etc.

I have invested a lot of time  and effort into my current site and only need to retain the galleries and cart functionality, however  to be able to use some of the page creation features would be a bonus. Regards - Ed

I Purchased CE4 Publishing Bundle+pages and CE3 and also later  CE4 cart and have been using the Galleries and Cart functionality for several years. Now I wish to upgrade to Backlight but only need the galleries and Cart functionality as I develop and support my own website.
Please can you tell me
1) what I need to upgrade to get the added benefits of  Backlight  in my Galleries and cart functionality.
2) How to find out my discounts as both my order numbers (305669477 & 0008577092) are not recognised on your upgrade screen, while Matt has indicated I qualify for a discount.
3) How to place an order giving me these discounts.
