Installing Backlight

I'm a long time user of the TTG products and had a prior version of Backlight installed when I updated my plan with GoDaddy and lost everything on their site.

I am now using Backlight 2 and have the most current versions on my web site and in Lightroom.

Lightroom showed the prior published galleries and wouldn't let me republish them (this was expected) so I uninstalled the plug-in which caused the old galleries in Lightroom to be deleted.  However, when I installed the newest version of the plug-in, the galleries reappeared.  The plug-in won't let me republish these galleries or create new ones.  When I try to create new ones if get the error message below.

I'm guessing I need to delete a reference to the old galleries/web page but I'm not sure of what to do.  Any help would be appreciated.

Bob

Re: Installing Backlight

We’re you upgrading from Backlight 1 to Backlight 2?

Have you followed all the update instructions, including visiting all areas of Backlight so as to update the databases, and did you click on the Update Album Files link?

Re: Installing Backlight

Because the web site was deleted, some of the steps are not valid.  Frankly, because of the deletion of my existing files I viewed this as a new install rather than an upgrade.

There were no files in /backlight folder.

I followed the installation steps and have the web page up and running.  I just can't add any galleries.  Norcrosspics.com.

I visited the  Admin, Publisher and Designer menu items in order to upgrade the databases.

All of my modules are current with the exception of Cart, which I have not installed yet.

I have updated the Album files.  I also updated the Index files.

Frankly, because of the deletion of my existing files I viewed this as a new install rather than an upgrade.

Re: Installing Backlight

I would create a new publishing service targeting the new site and not use the old one. Maybe change the api address of the old publishing service so you don't use that one by chance. This way, you still have a reference to your previous album structure. Just a thought.

Re: Installing Backlight

I'll give that a try.  I was hoping I could simply delete out the old install and plug-in the new one.

If it's essentially new rather than an upgrade, then I'm assuming the /backlight/data/ folder was deleted? If so, that's probably the reason you can't communicate with the existing albums: the database is gone and Backlight no longer knows the albums exist.

If that's the case, you'll probably need to republish everything.

Re: Installing Backlight

What are you using for the Publisher URL in LR? It should be set to:

 http://norcrosspics.com/backlight/publisher/

Once you get past this issue, it should be possible to re-create your galleries from LR using the structure still showing in the Publisher section of LR.

Re: Installing Backlight

If that does already turn out to be the case, so that I can look further into it can you provide me with a Backlight admin login, and the ttg.log file from your Mac or PC?  That file can found either in your Documents directory or under a subdirectory of your Documents directory called something like "lightroom-classic"

Re: Installing Backlight

I created a new publishing service and get a new error message when I try to create a new Album.

Error Performing Function

Unable to complete the action

Headers: {  [error]=> {  [errorcode]

=> "badurl"  }

}

The API URL in Lightroom is set to  http://norcrosspics.com/backlight/publisher/

I didn't have time to locate the files this morning but will do so tonight.

Re: Installing Backlight

Are you using the latest version of the Publisher plugin for Lightroom (4.0.10.0 ) ?

Re: Installing Backlight

It should be.  I went to the Modules online and downloaded it this week, deleted the older version and installed this one.  I'll give it another try when I get home tonight to make sure.

Re: Installing Backlight

It was  not the current version.  I've updated it but get the same error message when I try top create a new Album in the new publish service.

If I try to republish the old service I get this error message.

Unable to perform action: getSetupForTemplate

Message: The album could not be found for id 16842.  Please edit this album and try again.

I've emailed Ben the log file he requested and will get him an admin login when I get to work later this morning.  I'll email Ben with it.

Re: Installing Backlight

that last error sounds like a missing template. If re publishing from an older service, it may be expecting a template that no longer exists. You could try choosing a different template.
