Migrating from CE4 to Backlight 2 error

Hi folks,

Found some time at last to migrate my CE4 site and ran into the error below when running the migration tool. Any advice please?

Re: Migrating from CE4 to Backlight 2 error

Note sure what's broken here but I'm also getting an error code 418 from Lightroom when trying to publish to the live Backlight 2 site. The Publisher API is authenticating and it works fine if I direct it to upload an album to my test site.

did you install the latest TTG Publisher plug-in for Lightroom? It's available on your Backlight Modules page, near the top.

Re: Migrating from CE4 to Backlight 2 error

Hi Rod, I'm running version 4 of the publisher plugin on the desktop and I've updated all the backlight modules on the server to the latest versions.

Where do I find the latest lightroom.lrplugin file?

Re: Migrating from CE4 to Backlight 2 error

Found the plug in (right in front of my eyes smile ) so I can publish albums now without errors. But the pages I've transferred from my test site are a complete mess!

I've emailed Ben to see if he can resolve the migration errors, not sure whether to wait for him or reinstall Backlight and create the site again from scratch to see if that clears things up.

Re: Migrating from CE4 to Backlight 2 error

This is a bit exasperating, reinstalled Backlight and now getting error 418 from Lightroom when I try to create an album, and the templates aren't showing up in the lightroom plugin either.

Re: Migrating from CE4 to Backlight 2 error

which templates are you referring to? New Backlight templates or old CE4 templates?

Re: Migrating from CE4 to Backlight 2 error

Hi Rod, thanks for helping, it’s the new templates. If I go into lightroom and create a new album using the Publisher (version 4.0.12) plugin, the only template showing is “default album”. Then shortly after, “error 418” pops up. The plugin authenticates correctly against the API.

In Backlight admin I can’t load the publisher, I just get the error message shown in the first post. But oddly enough it looks like the old CE4 albums have tried to migrate because if I go to create a page and insert an album they’re all showing there in a drop down.

All a bit of a mess, not quite sure what to do next.

I think it's one of those things Ben will need to dig into.

I don’t see any way to migrate the cart from CE4 to Backlight either, can anyone tell me where that option should be please? I’ve purchased the module.

Go to the main cart dashboard. Look under Special Links

Re: Migrating from CE4 to Backlight 2 error

Thanks Rod, it's not there, there's a little gap where I think it should be smile

The good news is that Ben got in touch overnight and he's onto this now so I'm sure he'll be able to put everything right.

Re: Migrating from CE4 to Backlight 2 error

I've fixed the issue with the Publisher upgrade.  The BL2 upgrade script makes changes to the Publisher database.  However, when attempting to upgrade within the CE4 versions, one of the changes was broken by the BL2 upgrade.  I've put in a check for this and applied the change, and the upgrade completed from 2.3.2 to 4.0.12.

There is a link on the Cart Dashboard at http://www.adecentexposure.co.uk/backli … dashboard/ called "Migrate data from CE4 Cart".  If you haven't already visited it, then doing so should upgrade your Cart.  Let me know if it doesn't work.

My FTP access to your site is no longer letting me in.  If all goes well with the Cart migration, then I shouldn't need to be able to FTP in.

Re: Migrating from CE4 to Backlight 2 error

Also, the albums are still CE4 albums.  If you intend to switch them over to use Backlight, then you'll need to update the album files by visiting this page: http://www.adecentexposure.co.uk/backli … bum_files/

Re: Migrating from CE4 to Backlight 2 error

So it looks like I'm good to go now with the migration completed, thank you Ben!

But - the problem now is that the site is incredibly slow to load. My test site with a few albums takes about a second. My original CE4 site took about 2 seconds (up to when I overwrote it yesterday). The Backlight site contains the albums from CE4 (32 sets, 217 albums) but the load time for the home page is 15-20 seconds. Lightroom is also incredibly slow uploading an album. Backlight admin is very slow to load. Anything I should be looking at?

Re: Migrating from CE4 to Backlight 2 error

Backlight is quite fast by default. Sounds like probably a server/hosting issue. Maybe temporary.

Sit in it for a day and see whether it improves. If not, this being a separate issue, please open a new thread. I’m closing this one as resolved.
