API not successful

Hello,

I have installed backlight and set up the templates and pages.  I have installed the lightroom plugin and set it up but I cannot get the API to authenticate.

Backlight is installed in a nested directory on my site http://mysite.ca/dir1/dir2/backlight
I have my company URL set to http://mysite.ca anmd the site URL to http://mysite.ca/dir1/dir2

I set the API.

In lightroom, I have set the api url to http://mysite.ca/dir1/dir2/backlight/publisher

all addresses are http, not https.

I have been trying various combinations for hours and cannot get the API to authenticate. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: API not successful

Can you post the actual address to your site here, so we can advise?

Re: API not successful

Thanks Stephen.  Can you check that the API URL is set exactly to this:

http://stephencase.ca/casefamily/images/familyphotos/backlight/publisher/

Re: API not successful

Copied and pasted.  I changed the API on the server and lightroom to 12345 just to test and still no luck.  I get a message that "the authentication check was NOT successful.  Please check the URL and API key."

Re: API not successful

I think a possible cause could be your old API key still kept in the database.  Can you provide me with a Backlight admin login via email so that I can look into this and clear out the setting if needed?

Re: API not successful

That's good to hear.  How did you solve it?  If you've gone back to your old API Key then there could still be problems with old settings being there.  Let me know, so that I can clean them up.

Re: API not successful

Hi there, I got the same problem. I installed Backlight "quick & dirty" and as I wanted to change the publisher Password, it won't work. Only the default Password I provided when I installed Backlight workes. I can't change the password in the Admin page of Backlight.

Re: API not successful

The API key needs to be changed in both Backlight and in the Publisher plugin. Have you changed it in both places?

.. sure I did ... But it can't be changed online in the Admin settings. It uses the initial setting when I installed it. It seams "hard coded" wink

Re: API not successful

Did you click on the Edit Settings button at the top of the page first?

Re: API not successful

Something has been missed in the upgrade and the API key (and other settings) are still in the Publisher database, taking precedence over the value that’s in the Admin database. Can you email me a Backlight admin login so that I can clean this up for you?

Re: API not successful

Hi Bernd, thanks for the access. The problem is not what I thought it was.  The non-default API Key that you've set works for me.
What may have happened is that the session on the server used by LR has kept hold of the old API Key.  Can you try restarting LR and see whether you can use your new API Key?

Re: API not successful

Hi Ben, this was it. I restarted Lightroom and the browser, relogged in and was able to change the API Key. Thanks for this idea.
I think this is the solution.
