Image size

I posted a new gallery with a listing on my home page.  I copied the info from another gallery and yet the image that posts as the gallery image is larger than the other two.  I used the exact same size and format but do not know why the size differential.  www.newdawnphotography.com.

Re: Image size

The first image (Recent Gallery) has a different aspect ratio than the the other two. For these three links, create your own thumbnails with the requested size and aspect ratio of 400x320. There is no point to load a full-size image for a thumbnail as you do right now.

Re: Image size

I guess I am not following your thoughts.  I adjusted this mage to match the others yet it still posts larger.  This is the same on my home page as well as the gallery page.  www.newdawnphotography.com

Re: Image size

I think what Daniel is trying to say is: The first thumbnail image has a size of 400 * 320 px, which represents a ratio of 1.25 to 1. The second thumbnail for example has an original size of 5750 * 3833 px and this is a ratio of 1.5 to 1 => hence the ratios of your visible thumbnails are different. I reckon you need to make the ratios all the same and for thumbs it is not necessary to go beyond 400 * 320 (or whatever ratio you prefer) but they need to be all the same.

Re: Image size

I am a relative newbie.  Where do I create the thumbnails?

Re: Image size

Are you publishing using Lightroom?
If so, there is a setting "Cover Image" under the "Base Settings" tab. That's the place where you select, which image shows as the cover image (thumbnail) for the respective album. And the thumb has the ratio of the photo selected there. So you have to pick an image having the desired ratio - if you want to use that method.

I have created a special album, which contains all my thumbnails and I have selected "Hide from Album Set" under the "Features" tab in order to not show them as an album. I then manually select the thumbnail for my published albums from my thumbnail album. In that way I can make sure I have always the right ratio and a small size.
