Sharpness of album thumbnails

Hi, while changing my whole website to iconic view, there is an other annoyance.

The custom thumbnails I have formatted with Lightroom in 512 x 512 pixel size. They are sharp as they should be.

But - after uploading the images in an album, the thumbs of all images are unsharp (in Safari Browser).

If I view my website in Firefox, these thmbnails are real sharp.

Does someone knows, why it is so?

In Backlight 1 it was the same. I have created all thumbnails with Lightroom to the correct size and uploaded them - all were sharp.

Re: Sharpness of album thumbnails

are they being displayed at 512px in the web-browser?

I would export at 512px to display at 256px, accounting for the 2x resolution of Apple's "Retina" displays.

So, if you're displaying at 512px, I would export at 1024px.

Is that what's going on here?

Re: Sharpness of album thumbnails

Matt, the custom thumbnails for the album sets are formated to 512 px x 512 px and well sharped in Lightroom. The are all ok.

In the album template, the rendition of the thumbnails is set to the max. value of 512 px. The slider for Retina Thumbnails is set to - off -. Photo width and height is set to 1200 px x 1200 px. All images are processed from RAW to 1200 px x 1200 px with Lightroom and resynced into Lightroom to upload to backlight.

After upload, the thumbs are looking in Safari not as sharp as they should.
In Firefox they all look ok.

Edit:

Urgent: This concerns at time only for my new album set of my Namibia gallery.

All other galleries are older ones, here I have processed the thumbnails of the images in Lightroom and uploaded them via ftp. Therefor they all are looking sharp.
But after finishing my new actual album set, I want to reupload the older albums with new rendition for my new iconic layout.

Re: Sharpness of album thumbnails

I looked at the link in both Chrome and Safari, and I had no issues with your thumbnails.
