upgrade to Backlight 2

Just started the upgrade process from Backlight to Backlight 2.
Followed instructions exactly.
(http://backlight.theturninggate.net/doc … acklight_2 and http://backlight.theturninggate.net/doc … tion_setup
Then, as instructed, I changed the API key.
Failed authentification. Error performing function. (Code: 500)
And, of course, none of the previous Backlight pages/Album set/Album transferred!
Even after updating the Album Files.

What did I do wrong?

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

Try changing API key again, putting the same key in Backlight as you do in Lightroom

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

Did you make sure that the .htaccess and index.php files were uploaded to the correct locations?

The files in the root of the unzipped Backlight-2-Installer.zip folder belong in the root of the site you’re updating.
There are also .htaccess and index.php files in the backlight/ folder of the unzipped folder. Those files need to be in the Backlight/ folder of the site you are updating.

Both .htaccess and index.php files are within the backlight folder.

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

Should I delete / re-install the Publisher plugin within Lightroom?

This is what I get, trying to authenticate:
api

What's this "too many redirects"?

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

it might be something to do with your hosting. Ben will need to comment.

But most upgrading errors have been due to the two sets of index.php and .htaccess files being uploaded to the wrong places.

So my suggestion is to re-upload those two sets of files to their corresponding places on the server.

but you might have bigger problems. I can't even get to http://pideja.ca

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

I know. Can't access pideja.ca/gbc nor pideja.ca/gbc/backlight/
I re-installed the .htaccess file and the index.php file as well.
Also the url indicated when trying to access Backlight shows this:
http://pideja.ca/gbc/backlight/backligh … installer/

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

didn't you recently add a security certificate (https) to your site? If so, you may need to make the changes to the .htaccess files that you initially made when you changed to https

AFAIK, this means that there is an error with /gbc/backlight/index.php and/or /gbc/backlight/.htaccess.

Did you copy the following files as indicated?

zipfile/.htacess > /gbc/.htaccess
zipfile/index.php > /gbc/index.php
zipfile/backlight/.htacess > /gbc/backlight/.htaccess
zipfile/backlight/index.php > /gbc/backlight/index.php

But you can get to the installer: http://pideja.ca/gbc/backlight/installer/

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

Daniel: I installed both the .htaccess and index.php files in pideja.ca/gbc and pideja.ca/gbc/backlight

I do have access to the installer because I forgot it and I can't access the page where my Order ID is so I cannot log in!

And if I try to log into the site pideja.ca/gbc I get:
Unable to find module with id standard-page. Make sure this module is installed under backlight/modules/. in EngineFactory.php on line 95

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

Order ID is in the email you received that had the link to the download files.

And the reason you're getting that message is likely because, as instructed, you moved or deleted the old Backlight files. The new files need to be installed.

See if you can find the email with the download link.

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

and remember, if you've changed your site to https, you'll need to add that code back into the root .htaccess file as well as use the correct url for the Publisher API URL

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

Got the Order ID and successfully set the credentials into the installer. It installed Backlight. But there is a problem when trying to access Backlight: too many redirects https://pideja.ca/gbc/backlight/backlig … installer/

At the suggestion of the Chrome browser, I deleted all cookies. No success.

So until I find a way to correct this situation, I'm stuck.

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

Is your site using https??

If so, did you add the needed code to the new root .htaccess file? I’m not positive, but this could be important.

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

Yes, the site uses https and the script is in:

 RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]

But of course, since I can't log into Backlight because of that pesky "too many redirects" error, I'm still stuck.

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

I'd suggest sending an email to Ben. Include FTP access credentials as well as Backlight admin login credentials

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

It looks like corresponding index.php and .htaccess files are still not correct, as Daniel outlined: http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … 257#p55257

As Rod asked, can you provide me with FTP access and a Backlight Admin login via email so that I can look into this?

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

Now this is strange: after writing to Ben about the issues concerning this site, I came back to it about four hours later, just to check.
Anyway, I can at present log onto the site pideja.ca/gbc and also into the backlight settings for it pideja.ca/gbc/backlight
Because of the time difference, I don't think Ben has had time to look at the site. So what happened?
Furthermore, checking the templates, I see that they are OKAPI and not PANGOLIN as I thought.
Does this change anything? Why didn't the pages update to PANGOLIN?

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

Okapi templates will not update to Pangolin. You need to create new Pangolin templates

Re: upgrade to Backlight 2

Thank you, Rod. I will redesign in Backlight 2.

And a special thank you to Ben who made the site work again. He corrected the index.php file and installed the Okapi modules. That is a step I missed.

I can state without reserve that the help and service I received from you are unmatched anywhere.

Merci beaucoup!
