ZipArchive PHP package

Hey Guys, really looking forward to using BL2 but have an error after copying files over, Any ideas?

www.evagoras.co.uk/backlight/installer reads:

Install Backlight 2
Your host does not provide support for the ZipArchive PHP package. This is required by the Backlight 2 installer.

It is strongly recommended that you configure your server to provide ZipArchive support. This will allow you to uplight Backlight via the admin interface, without needing to download and manually upload modules and updates.

To manually install Backlight 2, download the installation files here. After downloading the zip file, extract all files and copy them to the backlight/modules directory via FTP.

I tried to click the download the installation files here link but it was linked to www.evagoras.co.uk/backlight/installer again.

In my cPanel >  PHP PEAR Packages I have installed:

Archive_Tar    v1.4.3
Archive_Zip    v0.1.2

(No idea what these are but they haven't done the job)

Thanks in advance

Re: ZipArchive PHP package

Hi Evagoras, that sounds like something you'll need to contact your host's technical support to enable the ZipArchive module.

Sorry, but the error message is misleading.  There is no other process for installing Backlight 2.

Re: ZipArchive PHP package

Hi Been struggling with the same problem but have the additional problem that I am the administrator of my own server which is Ubuntu 18.04. Dont have the benefit of a C Panel and have been struggling for hours to ensure that PhP Zip 7.2 is installed. I get the same error message over and over. With the new delivery method for Backlight 2 my backlight no longer works. Any suggestions or advice? I realize that this is a server issue but hope there is an alternative way to install

Re: ZipArchive PHP package

Have you tried either of these two commands?  (I don't know if the first with 7.2 is a valid package, but I would try it before the second):

sudo apt-get install php7.2-zip
sudo apt-get install php7.0-zip

Then after a successful install, restarted your apache2 service?  (e.g. sudo service apache2 restart)
