Tried a new install in a clean subdirectory to use as a development environment.
Everything installs correctly, but the Theater update, although listed as installed, was not available via the template design page. I had updated albums and cleared cache first. Not sure if the Theater installation is acting as expected or not, in that it was the free upgrade offered via email.
I corrected this by copying the "custom" and "data" folders from my existing site and reinstalling BL2 as an upgrade.
No issue for me - my subfolder installation is up and running. Just thought I'd point this out if anyone else has the issue.

Theater is working as expected on my side of things, installed via the Backlight Modules page, and I've not heard any other reports contrary to that. Let us know if you find any other modules not installing properly for you. Might be suggestive of an issue with the installer vs. your particular host.
