help needed

copied across all of the files as directed once deleting the previous custom and data folders from the previous install
on going to /installer in the browser i am getting
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_CONST in /home2/iclubwe1/public_html/jayclappphotography.co.uk/backlight/installer/lib/Installer.php on line 10

I had similar issues with backlight originally with the loginpage which ended up in me finding a work around and getting it to work but there is no obvious work around here.
so currently my site is down please help hmm

Re: help needed

This error is due to you running PHP 5.2.  Unfortunately, the error comes up before Backlight has had a chance to even check and warn about the version.
Backlight 2 needs PHP 5.4 or newer.  5.2 is very, very old.  Who are you hosting with?  You should be able to change the version of PHP from your hosting Control Panel.   I can advise on how to do that with Bluehost, if you are with them.

Re: help needed

In that case, then log into your Control Panel and look for something like "PHP Config".  Any version of 5.4 or newer should work, though I suggest going with 5.6 and above, since we're able to use more secure password encryption with those versions.

Re: help needed

Hi, did you replace the .htaccess file at the top of your site with that from the top level of the zip file?

Re: help needed

Can you provide me with FTP access and a Backlight admin login, via Email so that I can look into this?

Re: help needed

Thanks for the access.  I found that the file at public_html/ayclappphotography.co.uk/index.php was the old version.  I've renamed this to index_old.php and uploaded the correct copy of index.php, and the site is now loading.

So let me get this straight, in order to run BL2 I need to have PHP 5.4 or higher enabled in my Bluehost control panel? How would this affect BL1?

Thanks.

Re: help needed

it shouldn't affect BL1 as it's compatible with PHP 7

Re: help needed

I have no understanding of the things - BL1 is compatible with PHP 7, but BL needs PHP 5.4 or higher? (what?)

Anyway my control panel has no particular version ticked, thus my confusion. This is Bluehost.com

Re: help needed

it means that the minimum php version requirement for BL2 to work properly is 5.4
BL 1, I think, needs PHP 5.2.6 (I could be wrong about the exact version) or higher.

In Bluehost, go to:

C-panel > Programming > phpconfig

In my c-panel, php 5.4 is the minimum
