Error Message When Attempting to clear Template Cache

Hello,
Uploaded new files for Backlight Pages 123 Release 4, and when I attempted to clear the Template Cache, I got this error message:

Unexpected error: Call to a member function getPath() on a non-object in EngineFactory.php on line 241

Never saw this before.

Re: Error Message When Attempting to clear Template Cache

did you try re-uploading? Could you have deleted something and not replaced it?

Re: Error Message When Attempting to clear Template Cache

Worse than I knew at first.  Something sure got blowed up.  I tried loading my site, and got this message instead:

Unable to load template: ./backlight/framework/../admin/application/views/templates/template_home.php

Pretty sure I did just what the update instructions said to do:  remove folders and replace them.  Although it sure looks like I probably did something while updating, can't swear to it, because I didn't try loading the site before I started updating, and it has been a few days since I actually looked at it.  On the 11th, my web host did a patch on the server that had to do with Spectre and Meltdown, and I might not have looked at my site since.  Not very likely this had anything to do with it, but just saying.  Subdomains stil work.

So it would appear that some part or parts of Backlight got corrupted or removed.  Hoping I can fix it without starting over again.

Did you happen to remove okapi-core from modules/?

Nope.  Just checked, and it is still there.

How about the standard modules? (http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … 494#p50494)

Re: Error Message When Attempting to clear Template Cache

Your link refers to Okapi modules, don't think that is the right place to look.

My link refers to an answer Ben gave to another user that had the same error message. Ben's link goes to Okapi standard modules which start with the name 'standard'.

Re: Error Message When Attempting to clear Template Cache

Okay, so I found EngineFactory.php:  ".../backlight/designer/application/helpers/EngineFactory.php" .  File appears to be intact.  However, there is no "template_home.php" anywhere.  This is the subject of the message:
"Unable to load template:  ./backlight/framework/../admin/application/views/templates/template_home.php" that appears when I try to launch the site.

I don't know what the ellipse refers to:  /framework/../admin/ but this might be what is missing, as I cannot find any folder in the "framework" folder that contains a folder named "admin".  Mayhaps I should replace the "framework" folder, eh?

Re: Error Message When Attempting to clear Template Cache

there is no admin folder in the framework folder. I don't know exactly what those ellipses do either, unless it's somehow a relative url leading back to admin/

If you had been using the Okapi version and updated to Pangolin, that link Daniel supplied could be relevant.

At any rate, it's probably a good idea to email Ben, referencing this topic, and send him FTP and Backlight access credentials.

Re: Error Message When Attempting to clear Template Cache

Okay, I'm an idiot.  I discovered that I had deleted /modules/pangolin-page/ , but had not replaced it with the new folder.  All is well now.  Case closed.  At least we have discovered another way, besides Okapi Modules, that this error message can be generated.  On the bleeding edge of research!

Re: Error Message When Attempting to clear Template Cache

You're not an idiot.  We need to improve the error reporting on missing modules.  I'm glad you're back on track.
