Site goes down via Publisher

My publisher to site ftp has crashed during upload a few times.
I've realized that if I wait a bit in between uploads, it works just fine.
However, when publisher fails to upload my gallery to server I noticed that my entire site goes down.
Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?

Re: Site goes down via Publisher

That shouldn’t happen. What do you mean by the site being down? Not loading at all?
I wonder whether your host is blocking access for you. Who are you hosting with?

Re: Site goes down via Publisher

Switching hosting really isnt an option in my case, I was on the phone with GoDaddy yesterday and they made changes on their end that have helped me. it's usually when I get that error message in lightroom though (as mentioned in the error included by rod previously) that my site is down online. I can post a screen shot as im sure it'll happen today again while im updating my site. keep you posted!

Re: Site goes down via Publisher

Your site is trying to load resources from http://saintsprojects.com/index.html/ rather than http://saitsprojects.com/
Had you changed your Site URL to include index.html?

In the Backlight admin, under Backlight > Settings, check that your Site URL is correct.  Also, try clearing your template cache, by visiting Designer > Templates > Clear Template Cache.

For GoDaddy woes in general, there is nothing we can do on our end.  GoDaddy is incorrectly blocking your legitimate traffic from Publisher.  If you are on shared hosting then you are probably out of luck, though some users have reportedly had luck by having technical support upgrade their cPanel, whatever that may entail.   If you are on a dedicated virtual host then GoDaddy's technical support may be able to tweak the mod_security rules that are blocking you.

Upgrade to what? is there a post reference that I can see? Maybe I can have them do the same. I'm currently on shared hosting.. so I'd have better results if I weren't and upgraded to something else?

You can try searching the forum for GoDaddy cPanel and maybe see what other users have experienced.

Re: Site goes down via Publisher

GoDaddy technical support would be the only ones to help with this.  Our suggestions are vague, because we are not GoDaddy customers, and customers have experienced varying levels of success with operators who have not followed a consistent script.

I'm making a last-ditch effort to add a Publisher delay configuration item, to see whether that helps avoid the blocking.

Re: Site goes down via Publisher

I've added a delay option to Publisher.  This adds a configuration option to delay each image submission to the server by a set number of seconds (1 thru 60).  Hopefully a reasonable delay will prevent GoDaddy from blocking your access.

Are you interested in trying this out?

Re: Site goes down via Publisher

Hey guys,

I went and updated my cpanel with godaddy. I haven't had web or upload issues since - I think with some guidelines that I got from Matt as well I should be okay for now.

Hi Lenny, that's good to hear.  Do you have any more details you can share, such as the terminology used when talking with support.  Or was 'upgrading cPanel' the extent of it?
