Next Page cards

The addition of next page cards is certainly welcome however I don't understand why a visitor has to be or needs to be informed they are moving from one page to another.
Also on your demonstration gallery the next page card only seems to work going forward, I would imagine a visitor would want to travel both back and forward possibly comparing images - I haven't tried it on my own gallery, perhaps this was just missed out on your demo gallery
Is there any reason why there can't be a seamless transition between pages within one gallery when travelling either way.

It's implemented in one direction; we're not doing Previous-page cards.

Because page transitions aren't seamless. Because we don't want to kick the viewer out of the slideshow into a thumbnail grid without informing them it's going to happen. And because it prevents the user thinking the slideshow has merely closed and left them on the same page.
