Download Internal Error or misconfig..

Must have been a stray photon from a sun spot hitting my website.
Can't download files now?

Searched for a Reinstall guide without success.
Any other hail mary ideas?

Re: Download Internal Error or misconfig..

Hi Mark,

Are we talking about images downloads in an otherwise well-functioning page/album, or something else? Can you give us a link to an affected page?

Re: Download Internal Error or misconfig..

Hi Mark, 500 errors are difficult to debug, since the underlying cause isn't known.  Can you provide me with an FTP login via the Email link under my picture, so that I can try and work out what's going on?

Re: Download Internal Error or misconfig..

Thanks Ben for offering to peak at the site.
Sent email with notes to you.

Reinstalled software, Uploaded Fresh backlight files per update read me, Re Published, Re Checked.   Still everything works till the actual Download image is attempted.

Can't find a demo site here that has enabled downloads either.  Must be buggy code because I'd never do anything un orthodox.  yea.

Re: Download Internal Error or misconfig..

Hi Mark, thanks for the login.  There is something your server does not like about the .htaccess files in your galleries.  What that error is, I don't know, as there is no error log to look at.  This isn't an error on your part, and is most likely caused by a server configuration.  Was this working previously?

I've worked around this by disabling two lines in your Album .htaccess files,

Changing:

RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} !mod_rewrite=on
RewriteRule ^(.*)download.php %{ENV:BASE}download.php?%{ENV:QS} [QSA,L]

To:

#RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} !mod_rewrite=on
#RewriteRule ^(.*)download.php %{ENV:BASE}download.php?%{ENV:QS} [QSA,L]

The downloads are now working for you.

If you do need to edit those settings, the usual way to do so is:

1. Log into Backlight

2. Visit Backlight > Settings

3. Click on 'Show Advanced Settings', at the bottom of the page

4. Click 'Edit Settings'

5. Change the entry for 'Album .htaccess', as needed

6. Visit Backlight > Publisher

7. Click 'Update Album Files', under 'Special Links'

8. Click 'Update'

Re: Download Internal Error or misconfig..

Thanks Ben.  Works great.
Suspected the download.php was confused.  Didn't know any more than that.

Not many people will agree with you that it was not my fault, but thanks for the encouragement.
