Re: image on home page not displaying

Daniel,
I was originally thinking along the same lines. But I think the localizations are site wide, aren't they? And one site needs to be localized for english and the other for french.

Re: image on home page not displaying

Yes, I am tweaking as we speak...I seem to have solved part of the Contact page problems: the dummy type is removed. I only have to insert the CV and post a link to the page.
As for the Bio...still can't find why it does not show the text.
Finally, still can't get Theater to work: when I click on the thumbnail (in Galleries) I should get a video instead of that oversized thumbnail.
Speaking of thumbnails, I created an album in Publisher, called "_vignettes" in order to store my custom-thumbnails as suggested by Matthew in Tips & Tricks. As recommended, I checked the "Hide from album set" and "Hide from search"  boxes but they still show up as a gallery.

Re: image on home page not displaying

I got the login info you sent.

The reason the bio page comes up as a 404 Page not found is because the url goes to /nat/en/bio/ . It looks like is needs to go to /nat/en/Bio. With “Bio” capitalized.
http://pideja.ca/nat/en/Bio/
So either change the url to “Bio” or change the page identifier to “bio”.

Finally, still can't get Theater to work: when I click on the thumbnail (in Galleries) I should get a video instead of that oversized thumbnail.

This is because you've chosen the Still Image Presentation Type. Change this to Video and select HTML5 Video under Video Source and make the appropriate size and file type settings.

Re: image on home page not displaying

Almost there. Got everything to work, well almost.

The video presentation is quite large, so much so that's it's truncated on the bottom.

Compare this : http://nathaliemoliavko-visotzky.com/na … EQUELLES_/

to this http://pideja.ca/nat/en/galleries/02-sequelles/

Both sites use the same video source file, in this case, 1280px x 720px. Other videos are bound to have slightly different sizes.

I succeeded in inserting type into the "Catimini" video display. If only I could remember where it is. Then, there is that god-awfull black background on the footer.

But, progress is made, if ever so slight.

Thanks Rod.

Re: image on home page not displaying

The max width of your album template is set to 800px (under Album Setup). That could be having an effect.

The footer color is controlled in the page template where you have the footer background-color set to black.

I succeeded in inserting type into the "Catimini" video display. If only I could remember where it is.

Sorry, I don't know what this means. are you talking about page copy?

Re: image on home page not displaying

By fixing the footer, strangely, the video size has become manageable! I don't know why but it looks good now.

All that remains is that thumbnail that should not be visible and then...replicate everything for the French side.

Many thanks to you Rod for having walked me thru this. I might have succeeded on my own, in 2023!

All I've succeeded in doing is to more or less copy an existing design built in CE4. When the French side is set, I'll really start to upgrade the design to something a bit better looking.

By the way, how about one last tip? How do you insert a thumbnail that would link to a pdf, on the Contact page?

Re: image on home page not displaying

which thumbnail? If it's from a hidden album then it will be visible as long as you're logged in to Backlight. Log out or look at the site in a different browser.

You can insert a thumbnail that would link to a pdf by using html in the page copy.

<a href="http://yoursite.com/pdf-files/your-file.pdf"><img src="http://yoursite.com/images/image.jpg" alt="image alt text" title="image or pdf title" class="alignleft"></a>

You can add a width attribute to the img tag if needed and change or remove the class, depending on if you need to float the image or not.
