Spam through Contact Page

Hey, I've had my website and contact page set up for a few years now. It has been great up until last week when I started receiving spam emails through my site.
Has something changed or do I need to change something to stop these spam emails coming through?

Thank you
Dan

Re: Spam through Contact Page

nothing has changed with CE4, but spammers are always getting cleverer.

You do have your email address in the copy of the page, that's probably the easiest way for spammers to get you.

are the spam emails coming from the email form? Or are you just getting more spam mail in general?

Re: Spam through Contact Page

For CE4, you could try implementing this, if you're up for it:

For Backlight users reading this, do not attempt it.

Is that a hint to upgrade to backlight?

Re: Spam through Contact Page

I wouldn't take it as one.  Backlight currently uses the same spam protection as CE4, so we wouldn't want you to upgrade just for that reason and be disappointed to find spam emails continuing to come through.

We are looking at implementing the functionality from the tutorial within Backlight, which would render any efforts to do it yourself wasted.  We can't yet provide an ETA on having the functionality built in.

Re: Spam through Contact Page

It wasn't meant as a hint to do so, though, in general, we do think users of our Lightroom plugins ought to do so. Just not for this particular reason at the moment. My comment advising Backlight users not to attempt the hack was more to dissuade Rod from diving down that rabbit hole.

You're welcome, Rod. ;-)
