How do I display image caption and title...

...for large images?

Can't find anything about this in the documentation. I see that I can add metadata to the thumbnails but nothing about the large images.

Thanks in advance.

Re: How do I display image caption and title...

I have found that the [caption] in Lightroom does this.
The [caption] text was "From garden in Pensacola"

Under Image Settings in the album template designer, there is a field allowing you to configure the image caption.

Yes. But I needed a little time until I realized that for this setting to be taken into account, I had to mark the album for republishing and publish again. Just changing the template has no effect.

By the way, in the same section, I have localized the text for the Next, Previous and Back buttons. The change is merely ignored, even after republishing. The infotips opened when hovering the buttons are still in english.

That is, in Photoswipe mode. The localized text is taken into account in single-image mode. Since I also can't find any information in the doc about this, here we go:

What is the difference between single-image mode and photoswipe mode? When I change this option in the album template, I just see the buttons displayed above the image. Otherwise, no change. But in that case, the left and right arrows no longer work. I have to click on the buttons to go to the next image. If I return to Photoswipe mode in the template, the buttons stay like in single-image mode (above the image).

Should I republish each time I change the mode?

Sometimes this is due to the web browser cache. Clear it and see if this helps. And a link to the site with issues is always helpful.

Thanks. As already explained elsewhere, I'm working with a local test site installed on a NAS. No external access allowed.

Anyway, exiting the browser and reloading solves only one problem: the display mode is actually reset. But in Photoswipe mode, the button text localization is still not taken into account. English text anyway. Why is the localization reserved to the "Single-image Pages" section?

Large image presentation picks up the Photos Cation metadata, but not the Photos Title. Under Photos Title, I have {Title}, but it is not picked up when I view the large version of the photo. The caption is correctly picked up.

The Thumbnail presentation appears to work OK.

Re: How do I display image caption and title...

After changing anything, did you remember to republish?
Do you have metadata in the Titles field in Lightroom?

Re: How do I display image caption and title...

I did not change the metadata, it is already in the Titles and Caption fields in Lightroom, prior to publishing. So I am not sure what republishing will do, since metadata has not changed.

Re: How do I display image caption and title...

In Image Metadata > Photos Title you see:

Photos Title

Used to fill the img tag's title attribute.

This Title field is used for the image tag's title attribute and is not meant to appear beneath the Photoswipe image. If you want the Title metadata to be included beneath the image, add the token to the Photos Caption field. For example, to display the filename and the title:

{filename}, {Title}

Or use any separator you wish if you don't want to use a comma.

Re: How do I display image caption and title...

I tried what you suggested and it doesn't work. I added the following to the Photo Caption field:
{Title} - {Filename} - {Caption}
I still only see the caption
These metadata fields have text in Lightroom, plus they are the same files I use in my CE4 galleries, which correctly picks up the metadata.

Any thoughts on what else could be causing this issue?

Re: How do I display image caption and title...

After any change you make like this, you need to republish the images. Have you done this?
In Lightroom's Publisher Settings you can check the "Push metadata without updating existing photos" box to make this go faster.

Re: How do I display image caption and title...

is there anyway to change the position of the metadata text when viewing the image. Currently it displays at the bottom of the page, well below the image. In my CE4 galleries it displayed just below the image, which I prefer.

Re: How do I display image caption and title...

I believe the caption text will always be at the bottom of the page
