Free Items

Hopefully someone can help me.  I have some free pictures that clients can add to cart.  I want them to be able to download these with or without a purchase.  If the free item is in the cart with a non-free item, there is no problem; however, when only the free item is in the cart, clicking the proceed to checkout button results in nothing happening.  In the BE i set the minimum order amount to $0.  What am i missing?

Re: Free Items

might need more info. Are you using the transactionless checkout method? If not, perhaps what you're seeing is due to no amount attached to the sale and PayPal won't process it?

Re: Free Items

I tried with the transaction less method.  There are two options for that in the BE, i only selected the one.  I'll try both, see what happens.

Re: Free Items

So that works, the only problem is they can check out without paypal even if there is a non-free item in the cart.  They won't be able to download it, but it gets confusing, because it says pending payment.  They need to go through paypal to pay.

Re: Free Items

do you have "Allow no-charge checkouts" enabled?

If you don't want the PayPall option, then disable it.

Re: Free Items

I don't see the "Allow no-charge checkouts" option.  Is that on the BE?

I want paypal because that's the only way to pay me.  In a perfect world it would be set up like this...

Items in Cart $20 proceeds to PayPal checkout
Items in Cart $0 proceeds to transactionless checkout.

Re: Free Items

it's in the Cart Settings under Checking Out

It may be that the Allow no-charge checkouts will work with PayPal. But I rather doubt it because why would they?

Re: Free Items

I kind of have a feeling I'll have to do a "free with purchase" offer instead?  Or ask them to send an email so they can get it.  Too bad.  It was a way to drive people to the site and maybe see something else they want.

Re: Free Items

this is in Cart 3.1.4

You might also look into using a coupon to cover the free item
