Backlight test site

Here's the link to my Backlight test site:
http://backlight.barbeephoto.com/

I've got examples of different layout options, a few minor custom css tweaks, and examples of what you can do in the sidebars (called Trays).

It's my Backlight testing playground in a sub-domain. I highly recommend creating your own, mainly because it's really nice to have some place to test out any ideas you have without completely screwing up your main site. And it's a great way to learn to use Backlight without having all those tests hanging out in public.

Re: Backlight test site

This a great examples, I'm going to start on my transition this weekend, so these are an excellent reference for the different styles.  My websites are mixes of various versions of Turning Gate software, some updated, some not.  This will be a perfect time to fix them all.

Re: Backlight test site

I'm thinking I'll probably have to move my test site into a different sub-domain. Whenever I change over my site to backlight, that site needs a backlight/ folder. But right now it's the folder containing my test sub-domain. Not very forward thinking on my part roll

Re: Backlight test site

You don't need to use a sub-domain, you could just use a sub-folder in your main domain.

but if you want to create a sub-domain, do that through your host's C-Panel. It's usually found in the "Domains" section and it usually involves a couple of clicks and typing the name you want for the sub-domain.
Ask your host for specifics if it's not obvious in the C-Panel

Re: Backlight test site

Without access to the back end, I can only guess
Make sure your Galleries pages is linked to the "galleries" album set

Thanks for your answer - but I am not sure that I understand where to link them?
Sorry for more stupid questions.

Re: Backlight test site

Look in Designer > Menu Sets
Edit your menu set
Each item has a "Link to" option

If you have more support related questions, can you start a new topic in the Backlight Support section? Having individual issues under their own topic makes it easier for others searching for similar answers.
