Backlight is not yet configured. Please login to Backlight at /backlig

I followed the steps, and it doesn't work.
Install Backlight

Copy the files from within the ZIP to your server.
DO NOT copy readme.txt or TTG-Publisher.lrplugin.
If installing Backlight + Pages, be sure to include the .htaccess file. It may be invisible in Mac's Finder or Windows Explorer, but you should be able to see it in your FTP client; make sure it's set to show invisible files.
After upload, the /backlight folder should be accessible from your site's home, i.e. yourdomain.com/backlight.

I did it all correct. When i type my site/Backlight i get:
Backlight is not yet configured. Please login to Backlight at /backlight/ to continue.

I'm not stupid, but when I follow the steps and it doesn't work, I need to ask for help.

Thank you in advance.

Where did you install Backlight?

The message you're seeing should appear on the Home page. So if you installed Backlight into your public_html location, then yourdomain.com/backlight should allow you to log into the admin.

If you installed in public_html/backlight, then that's your Home, and so you'd access admin at yourdomain.com/backlight/backlight.

It *sounds* like you've installed it into a subfolder, but without a link, I can only guess.

Thanks for your answer, but i don't understand what you want to say. I have no public_html location and if i make one, i can't move the backlight folder to public_html location. Would it help if i give you my pasword of my server?

Hi, looking at your website, it looks like you copied what was in /backlight/ directly into the top of your web site.

http://www.stevenlefebrefotografie.be/backlight/ looks to be properly installed.  To fix http://www.stevenlefebrefotografie.be/ you'll need to copy index.php and .htaccess from the Backlight-Pages zip file into the top of your site.

Hi Ben,

I'm confused. That's what i've done this afternoon.
I cleaned up my server after having taken a back-up.
Then I followed the instructions from Matt to install backlight, so i copied the 4 files on top of my server.
I managed to complete the whole thing and i could publish an Album. Great. But then i pushed the button Galleries, and I got errors in red. So i was frustrated and as a result, i found a solution. I moved the whole bunch to a new folder on the server called Old. Then I moved back my CE4 website which doing still fine (:-) )

So, i've been able to taste from backlight, but i guess i'm not ready yet to use it as my publisher.
I would love to be able to have backlight next to my CE4site, so i can build it and test it easily. Can someone please explain me clear how to achieve that (knowing i have no IT knowledge, so please, keep it simple)?

Thank you.

Re: Backlight is not yet configured. Please login to Backlight at /backlig

I just created my Backlight testing/development site in a sub-domain. When ready, I'll just copy it into the public_html folder and clean up old CE4 stuff.

Here's my plan: http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … 946#p36946

To avoid conflicts, I don't want to do the testing developing alongside my CE4 site

How do you create a sub-domain? I guess it's not a sub folder on the server...

What does that mean?

Something went wrong
realpath(): open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/customers/d/3/e/stevenlefebrefotografie.be) is not within the allowed path(s): (/customers/d/3/e/stevenlefebrefotografie.be/httpd.www:/customers/d/3/e/stevenlefebrefotografie.be/httpd.private:/customers/d/3/e/stevenlefebrefotografie.be/tmp:/customers/stevenlefebrefotografie.be/stevenlefebrefotografie.be:/var/www/diagnostics:/usr/share/php) in PathBuilder.php on line 34

And this:

Re: Backlight is not yet configured. Please login to Backlight at /backlig

Create a sub-domain by logging onto the C-Panel of your host. There's most likely a section on Domains with a sub section for sub-domains.

A sub-folder will be created in your public_html folder (some hosts use htdocs as the folder to contain all the website files) but it will act like a site in your main domain. the address will then be http://your-sub-domain.your-domain.com

My guess is that files that were meant to be under /backlight/ were instead copied to /, so when they try to look higher up the directory structure there is an error because the files are already at the top of the site (when they're not meant to be).

I'm happy to help sort out your files for you, if you can provide me with an FTP login to do so.  If that works for you, please send the login details via the Email link under my name.
