Have empty Albums I can't delete from gallery

I accidentally uploaded a CE4 album that was part of an old CE4 set and then tried to deleted the album and images from lightroom but I am now left with some album thumbnails in my my gallery. When I click on one of the albums I get the following message.

"Something went wrong
The template could not be found for id in GalleryDelegate.php on line 252"

When I click on the  two other albums I just get an empty album

Things were going great and all was well.

Is there a way I can delete these empty Icon manually ?

Re: Have empty Albums I can't delete from gallery

You may need to delete from the database. It's accessed the same way it was for CE4

but if you post a link, Ben or Matt might have other ideas

Thanks again, I found the link and just delete the albums.

I really (love) Backlight. So much easier than using CE4.

Re: Have empty Albums I can't delete from gallery

Hi Rod, in case you missed it, albums and their related data can be deleted from within Backlight.  So there should be no need for the database editing.

Backlight -> Publisher -> Top-level Galleries -> Albums -> (Album Name) -> Delete Album (at the bottom of the album details page).

Another option in this case that may have worked would have been to follow the path:

Backlight -> Publisher -> Top-level Galleries -> Albums -> Assign Templates and selected the template for the album.

Both of those functions are considered 'maintenance' tasks, so only there to repair things if something has gone wrong.

Ah, I'd forgotten about being able to delete directly from Backlight. And now I remember you mentioning that specifically during testing.

Re: Have empty Albums I can't delete from gallery

Ok, just to make sure and clarify. using in my case using Filezilla this is where I would go and delete the album?

When you say within backlight I thought it was part of the address.
Are these the location for Backlight below?

ftp://jswphoto@ftp.ipower.com/public_html/galleries

Just want to make sure I understand for nextime

Thanks

Re: Have empty Albums I can't delete from gallery

No, what Ben was saying is that with Backlight, you don't need to use FileZilla or access the database to delete album entries.
From the Backlight dashboard
Go to:

Backlight Dashboard -> Publisher -> Top-level Galleries -> Albums -> (Album Name) -> Delete Album (at the bottom of the album details page).

I tried to make that feature reasonably well hidden.  The less likely a feature to be used, especially as a last resort, the more hidden away it is.

Re: Have empty Albums I can't delete from gallery

I have a couple top level galleries that I cannot delete either from within backlight or by accessing the database. Using the database method when I try to delete them I get an error that says the database table is locked. These galleries are the result of me trying different things with this while I get it going. The galleries I can't delete were actually album sets with no albums in them.

Re: Have empty Albums I can't delete from gallery

if these are actually top-level gallery folders, then they were probably created via ftp (the galleries/ folder and any other you might have created alongside it.)
Are the folders you've created Publisher instances to publish to?

Re: Have empty Albums I can't delete from gallery

Not sure how I created them, I was playing around trying all sorts of new things on this testing server. The top level galleries no longer exist in the file structure on the hard drive but they show up in backlight as top level directories and in the database also. None of this is critical because this isn't yet a live site, just me making a mess, but I'm curious how I'd go about getting them out of there.
