New CE4 Updated Site

Hi Guys,

So I've just put my new, stripped back CE4 site on-line at http://jonevans.photography

It's a bit of a departure from my last site and I hope I've not plagiarised too many other sites to get here.

I have used CE4 Pages with a Publisher managed Home Page (thanks a million for this one Matt). Split Page Content for contact and bio. Google Fonts for Menu Items and Content.  Galleries are Publisher Managed and I have CE4 Wordpress Theme for the Blog. I still have a few tweaks to do, can't wait for the CRG and Masonic Layout for the Gallery.

Hope you all like it, I know I've been a bit quiet recently, but now you know why smile

Much Malbec consumed Rod!

Re: New CE4 Updated Site

Wow Jon, that's nice. I like what you did with the drop-down nav background.

I love the simple opening page. I may have to swipe that idea.

I'm still thinking over my own redesign. Which, if it goes as quickly as my bathroom remodels, will mean I'll have a new design idea in time for CE6.

Looks like the Malbec paid off. I'm aiming for a more Pinot noir influenced design. But you probably already knew that smile

Re: New CE4 Updated Site

Found the problem, I'd failed to have a Subheading in my Home Page publisher gallery which meant that the H2 heading which holds the nav background image when using the collapsed menu on Mobile. sad

All better now though......

Looks great, Jon.

Have a look at mobile navigation, the second level galleries might need some tweaking.

I agree, everything goes better with a glass or two of Malbec ;-)

Thanks Daniel,

I'm on the Mobile case. Malbec works to a point, then things just get messy smile

Re: New CE4 Updated Site

Hi Jon,
Your home page is very inviting. I see you have a Cookie icon in the footer but that does not seem to work - at least in FireFox as it cannot find the server. I am not a coder in any shape or form and although I do have a cookie warning on my top level site that was following a Janet & John style copy and paste jobbie. Obviously with EU law we are supposed to have a cookie statement/warning and the presence of a contact form alone decrees that we should offer the user the choice to opt in or out. Have you got a way of making this work in the presumably Pages plugin?

TomO

Re: New CE4 Updated Site

Hi Tom,

This link works perfectly fine in Chrome and Safari, but now I have checked, not in Firefox or IE. The link is there because of cookie law and I was one of the first to implement it in CE3 using this link. Now I have to find out why the link is not working, so thank for the pointer.

Re: New CE4 Updated Site

Doh!

Looks like the cookie statement link that I have been using has changed (Thanks Tom!) I was only seeing it because the site was cached in my browsers. Because I don't use Firefox or IE, I didn't realise that the link had broken.... sad But, now I have something else to fix smile

Re: New CE4 Updated Site

Let me know how you get on with the fix as I'd like to implement on my site. Glad to have been of (some)help. I like to see how inventive other photographers are with these TTG plugins.

Re: New CE4 Updated Site

So, after much reading and cogitation, I decided to hug the middle ground. I did not want any pop-ups and did not want to mess with my nav, so I've kept the 'cookies' link at the bottom of my page. This now points to a page in CE4 Stage http://jonevans.photography/cookies. This is not as far as the ICO wants, but it does allow visitors to get information and if they want, find out how to change their browser settings.

Please feel free to comment, copy or erstwhile use any of this for your own site.

Re: New CE4 Updated Site

Thanks for the update on this. I'll have to maybe think along the same lines. I have the disclaimer on my top level domain stating that my photo site has cookies. I suspect that is not enough fir the ICO. Your solution at least covers your photo site.
