Re: Wordpress search

Just don't use it on the main site.
the search function is always there if a visitor goes to yoursite.com/backlight/search. It's built in. But you don't need to provide links to it on your site.

The WordPress search function searches WordPress. When the search is performed there's also a button to search albums. If you don't want that there, you can remove it with custom css.

Re: Wordpress search

It was the quick search that I've turned off on the main site. The normal search in the menu is fine. However in the blog site I can't see any search function http://monikabaster.com/blog

Re: Wordpress search

You'll need to add a WordPress search widget to the widget area

Re: Wordpress search

It says "Your theme has 2 widget areas, but this particular page doesn’t display them"
The home page on the blog is set to "Your latest posts"

Re: Wordpress search

You must be using a page template set to one column.
If this is separate page template meant for WordPress, then edit the page template and give it two columns. If your Backlight WordPress settings are set to automatically export the theme to WordPress, you should now have a two column page and you can populate the pallet 01 widget area.
If you don't use that setting, you'll need to go to the Theme in Backlight and export the theme to WordPress.

If the page template you're using for the WordPress theme is the same one you're using in your site, then clone the page template, and change the layout to two columns.
Go to your WordPress themes in the Designer page. Change your WordPress theme so that it's using the cloned page template.

Re: Wordpress search

if you don't want a two column layout for your blog, the other option is to enable the top-pallet quick search in the page template used for your WP Theme.

Re: Wordpress search

Hi Rod, all sorted again, cloned the page then added a two column layout.
