SSL & Not secure URL

I'm told that Google is marking our URLs as not secure. I was told to make it secure I had to buy SSL Certificate service for the certification. So I bought it from Blue Host and after they installed it my Website disappeared fro the web, which is on the scary side. I was on the phone for an hour and they then said it had to be fixed with a service ticket. I hung before I said anything crazy. It came back up two hours ago with no explanation. The site is till listed as "Not Secure"

Before I call them on Sunday I would appreciate it if someone would tell me if the SSL Certificate service is required and if you are having any trouble with SSL certificates.

Re: SSL & Not secure URL

You’ll need to make some changes to your settings in Backlight if you plan on implimenting SSL.
There’s an entire thread about it here: http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … hp?id=7876

Re: SSL & Not secure URL

My site isn’t using SSL, but I saw the same thing you did about Google so I’m considering it.
But right now, no, I’m not using it and things work fine with the Cart, though I don’t know if I’m taking a hit in Google rankings or not.

Re: SSL & Not secure URL

Just check out that thread I linked to above.
Many users here have implemented ssl without a problem.

Re: SSL & Not secure URL

I switched to SSL a while ago and it was very easy to do. Pay attention to Charlie's post: http://community.theturninggate.net/vie … 289#p47289. This is part of the thread Rod posted.
