Multiple browser redirects when trying to access backlight installer

I'm unable to install my backlight2 site because I get multiple redirects when trying to browse to https://www.mysite.com/backlight/installer. Clearing browser cache makes no difference. I had to delete my previous backlight installation because I was locked out from the site due to multiple login attempts. The latter problem was related to my own faulty login attempts and failure to recall the correct password. I stuffed it up, so I deleted and then re-uploaded Backlight but now I am unable to access the Installer because of the multiple redirects problem. Please advise, so I can finally get started with my photo library.

Make sure you are uploading the index.php and .htaccess files to the proper places.
If you aren’t seeing the .htaccess files in your download, you’ll need to set your FTP client to show hidden files.
