Markdown in Backlight 2

Markdown doesn't seem to work when working with album descriptions online (without LR). I've tried entering directly online using Markdown syntax, and also entering the text in MarkdownPad2 and trying to copy/paste. Am I missing something?

Re: Markdown in Backlight 2

Markdown should be working. Exactly where are you trying to use it, and can you please provide a link to your gallery?

Re: Markdown in Backlight 2

Attempting to use Markdown in an album description field   -
Publisher => Galleries => (choose album set) => Create Album => Base Settings => Album Description

Using a Pangolin album template..

Markdown works fine in Album => Page Content => Page Copy.  Problem only appears in the description field that is used in an album set (Descriptive) and the Album Description within that set. The copy entered appears, but without any recognition of Markdown formatting - or HTML for that matter.

I set up a test environment here  with bare minimums, and three sample albums with the description entered by using Markdown as well as plain text and HTML mark up.

Again - I only see the problem in the Album => Base Settings => Album Description  field

Ah, I see. Short album descriptions do not support Markdown. That copy gets used in unformatted places, SEO, social media blurbs, etc.

Re: Markdown in Backlight 2

Okay. The reason I posted is because the template indicates that it does support Markdown. Perhaps a cosmetic change is needed.  smile

Re: Markdown in Backlight 2

I see what you mean. The create album and create album set dialogs in Backlight Publisher (as opposed to Lightroom's Publisher) do indicate that they accept Markdown.

the template copy areas support Markdown (Page copy, tray copy). The Album and Album Set title and description areas do not. Looks like that (md) indication in the Create Album and Create Album Set dialogs in Backlight Publisher shouldn't be there.

If you need to style the Description text, you can do that with custom css

Re: Markdown in Backlight 2

I tried to use markdown since 2 hours and it failed.
Now I have found this topic and it is today always the same like gengl has written in october 2018.

Re: Markdown in Backlight 2

I've released a silent update that removes the (md) from the album/set Description field.  This can be installed by clicking "Reinstall" on the module-publisher entry n the Backlight Modules page.
