email contact and CRG

When receiving an email from the contact form our mail client says it's come from our own email address, I like it to come into our email client inbox from the person that sent the message with the subject being something like "website contact"

A similar issue with the client response form ?

Is there a setting I need to adjust ?
Thanks

No, that's just the way it works. Your site is sending you the email.

Re: email contact and CRG

That's a shame. I'll carry on using the wordpress contact form from the blog page then and link it into the Backlight page as that seems to give me what I want.

Need to get that one sorted for the next version on Backlight then smile fingers crossed

It is bad to force mail to look like it is coming from somewhere else. This can be one of the causes that a SPAM filter becomes active....

We will not be changing this, for reasons that Daniel outlined.  The emails come 'from' your email address.  If you click reply to an email the reply will be addressed to your client.

Re: email contact and CRG

In our blog site we have a form to email comments plugin, and it works very well. I don’t believe we are forcing the email to look like it’s coming from somewhere else. It simply comes from the person sending the email.
For me personally having emails from clients that are in our inbox from our own email is just odd. I understand you guys may have good reasons to keep it the way you have it but I won’t be using it for the reasons above. I’ll continue to use the Wordpress form to email plugin. I’m nowhere near as clever as you guys but why would email from a client force a spam filter ?

Thanks for the comments though

Because the email is not from the client but sent from your server and making it look like it is from your client email software. This technique is used with all phishing attacks and is a red-flag for SPAM filters. I'm surprised that you haven't had issues with your Wordpress plugin yet.

Re: email contact and CRG

Okay so maybe I can set up a new email address just for this form, is that a better solution ?
