Background image not showing

I use a custom background image in the page templates, since upgrading to BL2 this image no longer shows on the site. I can set a background pattern which shows but this is not what I require.

Any help appreciated.

Re: Background image not showing

Hi Paul,

Can you share a link? Also, how are you going about with implementing the background image (PHPlugins, Backlight's settings, etc.)?

Re: Background image not showing

Hi Mathew,

I’m using the Background image settings in BL2, with a previously uploaded image through backlight.

Re: Background image not showing

Hm. The image reference is in the stylesheet, but I'm not sure the URL is resolving correctly. Rather than the image, I get Backlight's login screen when I try to view it. Probably a bug in the pathing; we'll look into it on our side.

.background__image
{
	background-attachment: scroll;
	background-image: url('http://truecolourphotography.com/backlight/designer/page/image/2&65');
	background-position: center center;
	background-repeat: repeat;
	background-size: auto;
}

Re: Background image not showing

Hi Paul, can you Email me the URL to your Backlight admin and an admin login so that I can look into this?

Re: Background image not showing

Ben - I have the same problem.  I've gotten my site back most of the way on formatting, but for some reason the background image fails to show up.  I too use the LR2 setting using an image previously downloaded to the system.  Looking forward to what you figure out on this one.  I also noted the favicon I had created and attached to my site under LR1 no longer works.  Thanks.

Terry

Re: Background image not showing

The problem is that the URL appends &templateVersion.  This worked fine with the BL1 Image URL Format, which became something like:
http://truecolourphotography.co.uk/back … a=image&65
With the new clean URLs, that becomes http://truecolourphotography.co.uk/back … e/image&65

We need to fix this so that it adds a ? or & before the template version, depending on whether the format is clean or parameterised.  The latter can still happen for sites where .htaccess URL rewriting isn't operating.

Re: Background image not showing

so is this something we can do locally or should we just wait for the next update?

Re: Background image not showing

This is something we'll fix in the next half to one day.  I'll update this thread when it's in.

Re: Background image not showing

I've put in a fix.  Please update the pangolin-page version within Backlight Modules.
This is best done by:
1. Clicking the Update All Modules ** at the bottom of the Backlight Modules ** page
2. Visiting Designer > Templates > Clear Template Cache

Can you please report back on whether this resolves the issues for you?  There are other modules that also need a similar fix that I have held off on due to the need for further testing.

Re: Background image not showing

Ben - that fixed the issue - thanks!  Also, I absolutely love the new update function on LR2 - what a treat to no longer need to use ftp for it.  Thankyou to you and Matt for taking care of that.

Re: Background image not showing

I have a similar problem. I downloaded and installed Backlight 2 yesterday. It must be the latest version, I guess.

Anyway, trying to place an image on the HOME page. So I go to Backlight/Designer/Templates/TNM_pages/Design/Background/Background Image and indicated a file name that's already uploaded within Backlight 2.

But no image.

Re: Background image not showing

Have you tried the usual, like clearing template cache?

Re: Background image not showing

Yes, no image. But rather than have an image as a background (where it would show throughout the site) I would rather have an image on the HOME page only.
I remember putting an image in the Page/Page Copy section, but I don't remember how to write the instruction.
So, I created an "img" folder in Backlight and in the Page Content section I put

<img src=”pideja.ca/tnm/backlight/img/construction.jpg” width=”300″ class=”aligncenter“ alt="site en construction">

Alas, still no image.

Re: Background image not showing

The source is going to be wrong. You need a forward slash in the front: /
(Or use the full url)
/pideja.ca/tnm/backlight/img/construction.jpg

or
http://pideja.ca/tnm/backlight/img/construction.jpg

also, check your quote marks, they seemed to be mixed curly and straight. The should be straight: "

Re: Background image not showing

You can have an image on the home page any number of ways.
One would be to have a separate template for the home page and assign the background image to it.
Another would be through custom css and use the slug class to apply the css only to pages with the body class of ”slug-home” (Or whatever the slug is - look at the page source code for the <body> tag and see what classes are assigned to it.)

Thanks, Rod. The script worked. For now, it's OK.
