Customer information access

Hi can you please tell me where backlight stores all customer information that has been taken during the check out process.

I need to access this in case a customer asks to have all their data removed.

Re: Customer information access

I believe all that information is stored in the orders but you might want to wait for Ben to verify.

You can delete orders from backlight > Cart > Orders and use the various fields and status options to filter for orders.

Or you can access the database (do this at your own risk) by clicking on the phpAdminLite link in the Backlight dashboard. The database password is "admin".
Click on the cart/orders.sq3 database and then the on the customer_order table.

That's the only area I could find in the database that would contain customer information.

Re: Customer information access

It would be better to continue existing topics on GDPR than create new ones.

As Rod said, order information can be deleted from backlight > Cart > Orders.  Find your order, click the order number, then click Delete Order.

Backlight makes database backups for each upgrade.  To delete customer records from these, the most straightforward and blunt way would be to delete all orders*sq3, (e.g. orders_3_0_4.sq3, etc.) files under backlight/data/cart/database_backups/.  The backup mechanism is to provide a recovery path should a backup fail completely.  If your site is operating correctly, then there's no need to keep past backups.

Beyond the scope of anything we can do on this is customer data on server backups that your host has made.  I'm sure that that will be a headache for hosts operating in the EU.

Unfortunately it applies to all sites with customers in Europe, even if it the site is not hosted in Europe.
