Search Button Not Displaying Properly

Where the search button should be, there is only a dark box. I have not been able to find where to just have the search button appear in my normal dark color.

I am sure it is something very simple.

Meanwhile, and I am sure The Turning Gate has it somewhere, it would be useful to find a chart that highlights each basic element of a page and points you to where to make the change, such as for the search icon hidden above.

Many thanks,

Re: Search Button Not Displaying Properly

Set your buttons' foreground color white. Then under "Social Media", you can change just the social media icons back to black.

Re: Search Button Not Displaying Properly

Rod and Matthew. I thought I had done that, but clearly had not.  Everything works just fine now!

Thank you!

Re: Search Button Not Displaying Properly

Slight hiccup.  Everything is fine in this regard in the new site, but on the http://www.BC-FineArtPhotography.com/index.php I have the reverse where the search button shows up just fine, but the Social Media buttons do not.

Also, inadvertently, I managed to have the body line up on the left instead of center, and the top palette is way too wide.

And if I didn't botch it up enough, I now have lines between each of the menu items.  Don't have the foggiest idea of how I achieved that gaffe!

Again, thanks for your help.

Take care,

Re: Search Button Not Displaying Properly

See Matt's comment above about changing the button colors under Social Media

Top Pallet width: try setting the Fixed Width option in Top Pallet.

The reason the text is all the way to the left is because of your custom css

body {
	margin-left: 0px;
	margin-top: 0px;
	margin-right: 0px;
	margin-bottom: 0px;
        background-color: #002730;
	font-family: Papyrus, "Bradley Hand ITC", sans-serif;
	font-size: 12pt;
	color: #E7FCFC;
	width: 1024px;
	line-height: 1.25;

specifically the width setting (not sure why this is pushing every thing to the left, but eliminating it makes everything center up again). This is also causing the problem with the text being non-responsive at mobile widths (it's stuck at 1024px).
Also, you don't need to set the width with custom css. You can set the page width in Layout and the Main Copy width under Content Areas.
You can also set copy top-margin and top/bottom and left/right padding in Content Areas.

In fact, I think you can make nearly all the settings in that rule in the Backlight Designer.

The lines on the menu items are borders. Found under Navigation > Vertical Navigation.

Re: Search Button Not Displaying Properly

Wow!  Your support is amazing.  Thank you, and I deleted those items from the css and will do so on my other site, too.

I will battle with the social-media buttons tomorrow.

Take care,
