Hello all,
I have registered my site with google's search console and in the section about structured data I am presented a number of errors in relation with the hentry format. The entry types "author" and "entry-title" are marked as missing.
I already learned that this does not effect the search ranking.
Is there a potential benefit in adding the types e.g. in a child theme?
For example to have multiple URLs that are related by a common criteria in bog taxonomy listed under one search hit?
In google's testing-tool at https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool these are not even marked as warnings.

I tend not to use microformats all too much, as I have yet to see any real benefit to them. As I find them large superfluous, I haven't done much research on what tags are available, or the most appropriate way to use them. That's not to say I would never add them, but they're a pretty low priority for me at the moment, something akin to a rainy-day project that I haven't had the time to work on in a while. If there were evidence that implementing microformats would yield some demonstratable gain, I would be willing to raise their priority level.
The other thing is that there are several different (competing?) microformats. Which should I use? Or should I just go crazy and implement all of them?
I'm less concerned about microformats adding bulk to the page, as their inclusion would likely not amount to the size of even one more thumbnail in a gallery, but it would make my codebase far more spaghetti-like and difficult to maintain. This being the case, if I were going to implement them, I would likely want to do it a bit late-game, when things are locked down and less fluid than they are at the moment.
Anyway, I would think it's probably not worth your implementing in a child theme unless you're really interested in experimenting with them. As you say, they would yield no SEO benefit. And you're not running a daily new publication, so I don't know that you really need to be as concerned with date or time stamps, author tags, etc.
