Up-load FTP, location folder for galleries

I was able to create a basic Website with ttg-be, CE4 Publisher. With CE4-gallery and Publisher I see the Gallery nicely on LR preview, but until now I am not able to publish it correctly to the Website. I have followed the instructions of TTG beginners quide to CE4 Web Publishing. LR didn't get an error message when i did upload some pic's with the CE4 Publisher but  the gallery doesnt appear on the site. May be it's just a question of folder structure and target information. What is confusing to me is that that according TTG the Gallery Folder must be located within /ttg-be/templates/Gallery/  or for example Rod Barbee says /public_html_folder/galleries. Can somebody give me some informations how to get further or provide a link ?
Thank you. Christian - Switzerland (waiting for snow and nice weather wink )

Re: Up-load FTP, location folder for galleries

Hi Christian,

Sounds like you're mixing up two locations.

/ttg-be/templates/gallery
This is where you should upload a gallery template. Export from Lightroom's Web module, then upload to here. This will be used as design reference for all published galleries assigned to it via CE4 Publisher.

/galleries (/public_html/galleries, etc.)
This is the target destination for CE4 Publisher; published galleries will be here. Specify this location as your target location during setup of the CE4 Publisher plugin in Lightroom.

I hope that helps to clarify things for you.

Re: Up-load FTP, location folder for galleries

Thank you Matthew for your response. I did restart to set up the whole thing again.
The instruction for installing the CE4 Publisher Online Component says:
"Next, you should create a template using CE4 Gallery (or CE4 Client Response Gallery). Select a handful of images in your filmstrip to help with design visualization, configure the gallery to your liking, then export. The exported template will not need the selected images, however, so feel free to de-select all images from your filmstrip before export to minimize the template's footprint; the template will upload faster, and take up less space on your server. "
I think here I am doing wrong and just a question from a beginner: creating the template is in this case a) with "Export" button at the lower right of LR or b)  to create a template browser ? a) would confuse me since I would expect using "Export" will create a new gallery. And a 2nd question how can I de-select all images ? From a collection one image remain allways active.

Re: Up-load FTP, location folder for galleries

In the case of Publisher templates, the word "template" means an exported gallery. So yes, use the Export button at the bottom of the right hand panel. When you upload the exported gallery "template" be sure to upload the entire exported folder.

The way you can deselect all images is in the filmstrip, choose Use: Selected Photos in the Toolbar just above the filmstrip. If the Toolbar isn't showing, use the shortcut key "T".
then in the filmstrip you can deselect all images using CRTL-D (windows) I think it's COMMAND-D for Mac. But I might be wrong about the Mac.

Re: Up-load FTP, location folder for galleries

Thank you Rod for your answer. Deselecting the pics and exporting the entire folder worked fine. On my demo site http://fotobrun.cyon.link/  I have the problem that the galleries appear under index Home and not under index Gallery. I did upload the template named my-gallery to /ttg-be/templates/gallery/. The template my-gallery appears in the Publisher Settings, search template which seems to be o.k.. The adress for the LR Publishing Manager is http://fotobrun.cyon.link/ttg-be/publisher/. I was not able to set the adress to http://fotobrun.cyon.link/galleries. Error message: "unable to find Publisher. Please check if the API URL is correct". On LR I have installed Auto index, Auto Index eraser, CE4 galleries, CE4 pages, CE4 theme for Wordpress, CE4 view port sizer. How should I proceed ?

Re: Up-load FTP, location folder for galleries

I have the problem that the galleries appear under index Home and not under index Gallery.

That should be easy to fix. In Pages Appearance > Autoindex, assign the autoindex to the Galleries page
http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … auto_index

The adress for the LR Publishing Manager is http://fotobrun.cyon.link/ttg-be/publisher/

that is correct

I was not able to set the adress to http://fotobrun.cyon.link/galleries. Error message: "unable to find Publisher. Please check if the API URL is correct"

I'm not exactly sure to what you're referring here

The API URL in Publisher set up should be: http://fotobrun.cyon.link/ttg-be/publisher/
the Top-Level Galleries directory should be: galleries

Hello Rod: "That should be easy to fix. In Pages Appearance > Autoindex, assign the autoindex to the Galleries page"
Are your refering to the root adress in Autoindex ? Under Appearance in Auto Index I don't see a way to set an adress.
Should the root adress direct to the template folder  \TTG-BE\templates\Gallery\my-gallery ?

Re: Up-load FTP, location folder for galleries

No, you need to make that changes in the TTG CE4 Pages plug-in.
Go to the Appearance control pane and scroll down to the Auto Index
http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … auto_index

Should the root adress direct to the template folder  \TTG-BE\templates\Gallery\my-gallery ?

No. The Site Root should be the actual root to your site. Either use:

http://fotobrun.cyon.link/

or simply

/

Go to Site Info > Website: Site Root
You'll need to set this in all your TTG plug-ins.

Re: Up-load FTP, location folder for galleries

It works! Thank you Rod. I appreciate your help and patience very much. It's tricky to find the setting for Auto Index in Pages. After the album Shows up now under index Gallery I have only to find out how to set up a Gallery under Index home (if possible with Publisher too).

Re: Up-load FTP, location folder for galleries

When you're new to TTG, it's tricky to find anything. It's like switching from Nikon to Canon (though why one would want to is beyond me wink ) and trying to get used to the controls.
It just takes using the tools and getting familiar with them.

For a Home Page gallery, just look for "the Gallery" in the same area you found "the Autoindex". Choose the gallery type and assign it to the Home page and be sure to have the images you need in the filmstrip. Keep in mind that filmstrip images assigned to individual pages will not appear in the gallery.

http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … _filmstrip

To use Publisher to control the Home page gallery:
http://ce4.theturninggate.net/docs/doku … _home_page
