Search not working

Apologies.

I have actually searched for this to help me work out what has gone wrong with the Search option on the site.

I have uninstalled everything and started again from scratch, and have now finally got a HTML single image working and thumbnails working on galleries without duplicates etc.

However,.......... I thought I had this problem when I first started playing around with TTG, and my search option displays a URL that cant find the page.

Could someone give me a pointer please?

Thanks smile

Re: Search not working

did you move the entire search folder to the root? there should be three files in it: index.php, lib.php, mobile.php

What's strange, is that when I just went to your site I got the server error when just trying to access your gallery. But the next time I tried I got in.

I remember these server errors from a couple of weeks ago. I'm wondering if it's a hosting issue.

Anyway, check to make sure those files are in the search/ folder

Re: Search not working

Hi Rod,

The site is running fine, I deleted my gallery and then republished it with a slightly different name, so it was just as I was doing it that you saw no gallery showing! LOL

Yes I have those 3 files in the root of my domain.

Anything else I can check to ensure the search function works? I know Ben did something about permission on a folder, which I have checked and is correct, so am a bit stumped now as to what to try next.

Re: Search not working

As far as I know, you only need to move that search/ folder to the root of the site. (or any folder below the level of the ttg-be/ folder. see this, it's kind of interesting: http://community.theturninggate.net/top … rmissions/ )

This is looking like something Ben will have to diagnose.

Re: Search not working

My search folder is /ttg-be/publisher/search

I made a copy of it, and moved it to the root of my domain. The search button is now working!

Thanks Rod.... awesome, now I am going to republish the gallery and test the fuctionality of it.

Many thanks for this.... much appreciated smile

Re: Search not working

hmmmm... maybe not YAY!!!

Have added a keyword to each photo, 101, 102, 103, 104 and search cant find the photo!

I wonder if its because the search folder is in the root of the domain or its something i have setup incorrectly in the gallery before I exported?

Am pretty sure I added the keyword to the metadata in CE4 Gallery before I exported it. Might have to have a double check on that though.

I just want to be sure that the search folder i copied to the root of the domain is correct?

Re: Search not working

After adding keywords, did you republish the images?
After adding any metadata you'll need to republish. To make it quicker, you can check the "Push metadata...." box in Publisher Setup.

Re: Search not working

Rod.... given up with the keywords, as originally these worked great, and would prefer to use them, however, for the time being, and foreseeable future, I am using the title of the image to allow the search function to work, which it does, so I have finally......... got the basics running on the site.

Now for the hard bit!! LOL smile

ps... thanks for ALL your help, its been tough, but well worth it so far.

Re: Search not working

there was a recent discussion of keywords and search here on the forum that might be of help. If I can find it I'll post it here.

Re: Search not working

I briefly saw it Rod, think from what I have read is that the new version of publisher is stripping out metawords (keywords in particular)

Perhaps there will be an update. smile

Re: Search not working

here it is: http://community.theturninggate.net/top … -keywords/

Ben's posted a 2.2.0b update to Publisher. If you haven't yet, try updating Publisher
