For me its a struggle

I am following the guidelines on the site for installing Backlight 3.  Its just not getting me there.  Everytime I try an update is says Backlight 2.  Am I missing something?

Re: For me its a struggle

Rod,
I have uploaded the files for 3 using my FTP transfer app.  I have tried to use the installer but it only says update for backlight 2.  Where do I find my order number?

Re: For me its a struggle

we’re you already on Backlight 2?
If so, there is no uploading of files involved, you simply need to log in to Backlight, go to the Modules page and click the Update link

Re: For me its a struggle

then I get this:

our host does not provide support for the ZipArchive PHP package.

This is required by the Backlight 2 installer. Either enable this module via your host's Control Panel, or contact your host's technical support for assistance.

Re: For me its a struggle

If you uploaded the backlight/ folder then you overwrote the data/ folder, which contains all data about your site. This means your site is probably gone.
Do you have a backup?
Does your host provide a backup? (if you’re on Bluehost, I think they provide free backup/restore)
If possible, restore your site. then upgrade according to the upgrade documents.

I pay GoDaddy for backups, I will check with them.  Sorry about my confusion.

Re: For me its a struggle

Upgrading from Backlight 2 to Backlight 3, you shouldn't upload anything. Once Backlight 3 is purchased, the upgrade is performed like any update to Backlight 2. Please watch the video on this page:

Re: For me its a struggle

Matt,

I followed your instructions and I get an error message that the zip is unsupported.  Now my modules are gone.

Re: For me its a struggle

Rod,

Thanks for the update issues.  I did find the zip extension in my php to be un checked.  Once I did that I was able to do the update.  However, the installed versions start with 2.0.  Should it not be 3?
