Re: Redirection

you want your Galleries page to be your home page?
Why not just embed the galleries album set into the existing home page?

Re: Redirection

Rod, could you please explain how? I too, want my homepage to start as my Galleries page.
https://www.garybrackin.com

I tried but goofed. https://garybrackin.com/galleries works but many of the Menu items links found at http://www.garybrackin.com
now lead to the error:
"Paradox 404!
You've found a page that does not exist."

And going to my main site garybrackin.com
now shows the error:
"Something went wrong
Unable to find gallery.xml. The gallery can not be found. in GalleryController.php on line 561"

Rewrite redirects that I tried using my cPanel did not work. And so what caused the goof was when I logged into Backlight and changed my Backlight Settings (Site URL.   https://www.garybrackin.com    to go to.  https://www.garybrackin.com/galleries) and when I did that I see by going through FTP that my lib.php and my index.php were replaced and now I'm stuck. ...uh, a little help please?

If I could just go back to how I had things this morning, I'd be happy. ..or if there's another way to easily republish or do whatever you suggest.

Re: Redirection

To insert an album set into a page, go to Designer > Pages
Click the  “Design” link corresponding to your Home page.
Click on Insert Album Set
Choose: Galleries
Save

The reason for the 404 errors is that you had the wrong url for pages where you chose URL as the Link To option in the menu.
For example, for the Galleries page you had galleries/
It should have been /galleries,
I changed the a Link To option for Galleries to Album Set: Galleries

Same problem with some of the page URLs. I changed the Link To option for those as well.

Which lib.php and index.php were replaced?
The root of the site should have an index.php, but not a lib.php

Have you tried uploading fresh copies of the index.php and .htaccess files from the unzipped Backlight-installer folder?

And turn off any redirection

Re: Redirection

Awesome! This issue is fixed and has been totally resolved. - I'm so glad users can redownload Backlight and purchases. Issue is Now I got my "Galleries" showing up on Top Level of my website domain like I wanted without a landing home page.
Now my site goes directly to Galleries.

Here's what I did to add to what you did in helping with my URL Link to specifics you mention in your above post, Rod. And it worked:
I redownloaded Backlight. Logged into my ftp and choose to show hidden files. Then .htaccess file showed up.
I took the index.php and .htaccess files from the unzipped Backlight-installer folder and then used ftp to place them in the folder on my server called "Backlight". These two files that were messed up yesterday go replaced with the original Backlight installer ones and Bam! ..everything's great.  ..better really.
You are awesome Rod.

Re: Redirection

Just make sure that you DID NOT upload the index.php and .htaccess files found in the root of the unzipped Backlight-installer..zip file to the backlight/ folder on your site. (They go into the root of your site)
The backlight/ folder has its own index.php and .htaccess files.

You can make sure the correct files are in the backlight/ folder by clicking the Update Backlight Index files link on the Backlight main dashboard

Re: Redirection

Yes, ..that's a good point of distinction!
The index.php and .htaccess files found in the unzipped Backlight folder go into the Backlight folder on your server. Make sure these are the ones, anybody trying to do this. Don't be in a hurry if you're confused. Take a breath and go reread what Rod said. It's very clear what to do.

Then do as Rod suggested about Updating Backlight Index files from with the your Backlight dashboard.
-This is awesome and I'm learning more every time I screw up. Thanks, Rod. ..a bunch.

Re: Redirection

Just remember that the structure in the unzippped Backlight-2-installer-xxx.zip folder needs to be duplicated on the site.
You’ll see this in the unzipped Backlight-2-installer/ folder:

backlight/
galleries/
index.php
.htaccess

All these go in the root of the site. That’s it.

If you’re updating from BL1 to BL2 it’s a little more involved:
