I bought the update and ran the update in BL2. Got this

Call to undefined method BacklightUtility::getClientIPAddress()|#0 /home/corve3/public_html/lesm/backlight/modules/module-framework/helpers/InstallerClient.php(101): InstallerClient->post('https://get.the...', Array) #1 /home/corve3/public_html/lesm/backlight/modules/module-framework/helpers/InstallerHelper.php(65): InstallerClient->install('40681270', 'paulpegg@optonl...', 'release', 'core') #2 /home/corve3/public_html/lesm/backlight/modules/module-admin/application/controllers/AdminController.php(1383): InstallerHelper->installModule('core') #3 /home/corve3/public_html/lesm/backlight/modules/module-admin/application/controllers/AdminController.php(1364): AdminController->install_module('core', 'update') #4 /home/corve3/public_html/lesm/backlight/modules/module-framework/controllers/Controller.php(56): AdminController->update_module('core') #5 /home/corve3/public_html/lesm/backlight/modules/module-framework/models/Dispatchable.php(136): Controller->dispatch(Array) #6 /home/corve3/public_html/lesm/backlight/modules/module-framework/Framework.php(73): Dispatchable->dispatch() #7 /home/corve3/public_html/lesm/backlight/index.php(32): Framework->route() #8 {main}|URL: /backlight/index.php

It looks like all the modules are at 3.0. Hopefully all is well.
Thanks,
Paul

#3 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Gallery thumbnails from LR » 2019-09-18 12:25:32

Good question. Where do I find that setting? In Backlight or LR? In the LR album they are generally in creation order. When published they are shown in reverse order.

How do I enforce the sort order that I have in LR albums? Backlight brings them in reversed. See http://lesmarmitonsnj.com/galleries/201 … mber-2019/
Those are reversed from LR.
Thanks,
Paul

Just to close this. Ben and I went off line and he helped me resolve all outstanding issues. Thank you very much Ben, you went way beyond the call of duty.

I would have to go in via FTP and the TTG BE admin to see what needs updating. Does your control panel provide options to choose between PHP 5.6 and 7?

Yes. All the way to 7.2

There should be no issues migrating from a straight CE4 site to Backlight. I can take a look in advance via the admin and FTP to see if there’s anything strange about it.
CE4 sites should work fine on PHP 7. It may need a few file updates to the latest versions.

Thanks Ben, perhaps you could give me a list of those updates when you have a chance. Or just point me in the right direction.

You can do that.
Use Metadata 1 in the thumbnails and just using the Caption token
In the Caption field for the large image (Photo Presentation section of the template), use the Caption and Copyright tokens along with any additional text you'd like. For example:
{Caption}. Copyright {Copyright}

OK. I did both of those things and got the thumbnails to show only the Captions (which is what I want) but the photo Presentation still only shows the Copyright even though the token says {Caption} Copyright {Copyright}

For a sample of the presentation I would like to achieve see http://photoimpressions.org/galleries.php and open any set and view the slideshow. This is a CE4 site that is running on a host that still supports php v5.6. I am not looking forward to THAT migration!

What  i would like to see is the Caption on the thumbnail and both the Caption and Copyright on the slideshow large renderings. I had it set up this way in CE4 and CE3 but we don't seem to have those controls in Backlight.

are you referring to your copyright appearing in the Caption area rather than a caption in some albums?

have you tried republishing those particular albums?

I don't have the catalogs for them anymore (except for the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 which I did republish). Ben extracted the remaining data from the CE4 site.

That setting is in the album template under Photo Presentation > Captions.
After making any changes you’ll need to republish the image metadata

I know. And it is set for {Caption} but the result is inconsistent as i spelled out above.

The metadata is there because it appears with the thumbnails but does not display properly in the slideshow.

The Publisher section of Backlight's admin has all of things settings that can be found in LR's Publisher module, so it’s a good place to make changes like that.

I’ve fixed the metadata for full-sized images. That required renaming a further two metadata names.

Ben,

I can't find the place to set the full-size images metadata. The tokens for Albums is set for Caption and Copyright but what is displayed in the various sets is inconsistent.

2018/2019 randomly shows caption and copyright or filename in both album thumbnails and slideshow
2017/2018 shows caption and copyright in album thumbnails but only copyright in slideshow
2016/2017 shows caption and filename in  album thumbnails but only copyright in slideshow
2015/2016 shows caption and filename in  album thumbnails but only copyright in slideshow

Yeah, some of them are a bit old and have probably died on the web. I need to go over each of them and get rid of the dead wood.

Thanks,

I’ve fixed the order to be reverse-chronological. This was done by editing each Album Set in Backlight and setting the ordering to 'slug'.

OK. That is correct.

Thank you

I know. That is the least of the problems I have been dealing with. I have to go in and correct the links. The Events have absorbed my total consciousness (and a lot of my sleep time) for almost a week!

Thanks for the heads up. All it took was to copy the old page into Notepad++ and then copy that back into the new page. That preserved the links as I originally had them.

#17 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Something went wrong after migration » 2019-05-15 06:49:43

The way I had thsi setup was that each album set displays the latest album at the upper left corner. I numbered them 09-September, 08-October, 07-November, 06-January, 05-February, 04-March, 03-April, 02-May and sometimes there would be an 01-July. They would sort in descending order.

The captions now display under the thumbnails but not in the slideshow. See the albums in 2018-2019 Events for an example. I got those to work today.

We are slowly getting this done. Once these are totally correct they will remain static from now on. My next chore will be to try to recreate the older ones from CE3. I expect that will be totally manual and require me to find the old photos and extract the metadata from those files somehow.

Thank you again for all your attention to this set of problems. I doubt you have many like me.

I have cleaned up those extra album sets and moved the two albums over, and cleaned up Publisher settings.
Authentication should now work with the API Key ending in 8.  Restart LR for this API Key to work.

Is there anything else amiss?

Ben,

In the 2015/2016 Events set there are multiple nested sets entitled September 2013 Event. These are actually duplicates of the 2015-2016 Events set and albums therein except the last one which is empty. Please deleted them all.

Can you get the sets and albums to sort according to the numbering system that is already there through the numbering system i have been using for years?

Thanks for all you have done. We are getting real close.

#19 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Something went wrong after migration » 2019-05-15 03:56:47

Rod,
When I open a CE4 set and link the new Publisher I get a message like "You have changed to setting for 250 photos. Republish or not (or something to that effect)". Should I say yes and them em rip? Where will they go?

It turns out they didn't go anyplace that I can find on the site. I did change to push metadata only and managed to update the 2018-2019 Events Albums.

I cannot find the catalogs for the prior seasons so am stuck unless I can find the metadata on the server. Where is it stored in CE4 albums? I browsed in CuteFTP but can't find the actual data.

rod barbee wrote:

Paul, have you tried republishing the metadata yet?

That is another issue. I went into LR and the new sets do not appear under publisher. I opened the local set for 2018-2019 and then the latest album and there is no place to push the metadata, only republish.

I created a Test set and a Test April 2019 Event and published them. They worked and the captions appear at the bottom of the photos in the gallery. So I am not going completely mad, I know it will work some day!!!!

Check out Our Events>2018-2019 Events at the bottom is 2019 April TEST.

Ben,

Can't delete any of the empty albums or those that contain duplicates of the 2015/2016 set > says only LR can do this but the do not appear in LR, at least in the current catalog which is LesM 2018-2019. Do I have to create new catalogs for each of the Backlight sets I created on BL2? Should they show up automatically in LR? If so, they are not appearing anyplace for me.

Is there a way we can talk on the phone about this? I could call on skype if that works for you. There are so many things that are wrong, or at least I can't access them to delete or modify them.

More: I tried to Hide September 2015 Album from set and got the same message:
"Something went wrong
rename(/home/corve3/public_html/lesm/galleries//,/home/corve3/public_html/lesm/galleries//september-2015): Invalid argument in PublisherHelper.php on line 378"

#22 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Something went wrong after migration » 2019-05-15 02:03:16

Ben,

I tried to rename one of the September 2013 Albums that are actually 2015 sets and got this again:

Something went wrong
rename(/home/corve3/public_html/lesm/galleries/04-2015-events/,/home/corve3/public_html/lesm/galleries/04-2015-events/sept-2013-event-actuallyl2015-set): Invalid argument in PublisherHelper.php on line 378

#23 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Something went wrong after migration » 2019-05-15 01:57:33

Thank you.
I have not yet gone into LR. I have a new album to add to 2018/2019 and will let you know how it goes.

The Albums still do not sort according to the numbering scheme I have been using for years and the captions do not appear under the photos in each album. I turned on Metadata 2 for {filename} and that is not working either.

#24 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Something went wrong after migration » 2019-05-14 03:57:29

I tried to hide one of the six extra albums and got this

Something went wrong

rename(/home/corve3/public_html/lesm/galleries/04-2015-events/,/home/corve3/public_html/lesm/galleries/04-2015-events/2015-october): Invalid argument in PublisherHelper.php on line 378

Everywhere I turn something doesn't work. Very frustrating!!!!

#25 Re: Backlight 2 Support » Something went wrong after migration » 2019-05-13 23:17:28

I cannot get LR to authenticate today (It did on Saturday). Also, i do not have the 2015-2016 catalog any longer (it's a long story), so please move the two albums in the second one over to the first one.

I got it to authenticate, selected an album to publish and got a error message "Cannot update this collection"

None of the sets from Backlight appear in LR. Aren't they supposed to?
