Hello Markus,

I have noticed the same effect since updating to Backlight 2.0.5. I didn't notice that before.

What I noticed yesterday: Lightroom has also become incredibly slow, especially when I want to edit albums or album sets with the Publisher.
the single commands of Lightroom are always executed very time-shifted, so that I press a button twice in places, because I think that nothing has happened yet sad

It also takes an infinite amount of time for the photos to appear in the different folders in the Publisher. And it doesn't matter if it's 2 or 6 or 10 photos. So not really many photos.

Publishing new photos also takes a long time.

Many greetings
Markus

No, my Ligthroom has no performance problems, it's just the Backlight application/SQLite.

@Ben
If I want to test the program on a local server, does it work to copy the whole folder where I have installed Backlight to the local server? Are the SQLite data in this folder (I actually have no idea where these data are, an SQL database I could find)?
Thanks,

Hi there,

I have Backlight installed since some time and set-up my galleries, but actually never published it, since it is so slow.

I read through some topics in this forum also discussing speed problems, but all seem to be different and some never have been solved.

However, in my galleries it takes about 10 seconds to come from one picture to the next, quite exactly always the same, no big difference in speed.

I have the same images in static galleries (the ones actually published) using the old TTG Lightroom plugin. Here it takes only a fraction of a second to browse through the images. So it should be something with PHP, Backlight or between the two.

To compare you can look at the static version https://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz. … index.html and the Backlight version: https://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz. … 017_03_16/

On my webspace PHP 5.6 is installed. Unfortunately they wrote that SQLite is not available for newer PHP versions, whyever.

I also looked on this http://backlight.theturninggate.net/doc … e_settings and noticed, that on my webspace the settings are by default already on the values suggested to change to. i.e. PERSIST/OFF.
I did not try to change them instead to the values that are described as default on your help page, did not want to break anything not knowing if this change could be helpful for speed problems at all.
Is it worth a try to change the settings to DELETE/FULL?

Summary:
- Should I try the DELETE/FULL settings for SQLITE?
- Any other idea?

Thanks,
Markus

Seems like this cannot be solved.

To be triple sure I installed a new browser that never has been installed on my machine and it behaves the same as all browsers except Firefox on some pages that use Standard Album Template, only the first menu level is functional.

Hi there,

I read the article how the search function is working. Amongst others the search looks for the file name.
As probably a common case is that all files have a similar name as they come out of the camera, something like photo0001, photo0002, photo0003....photo4565, a search for "photo" would result in thousands of matches.

Is there something implemented that the search stops after a certain number of matches?
If not, is it possible to exclude the file name from the search?
Or a blacklist of search words?

Thanks,
Markus

#6 Re: Backlight Support » Upgrade v1.1.1 --> v2.2.2 r3 » 2017-10-20 02:17:03

I can reproduce:

Opera v48/Windows:
"Fotos" menu always shows only first level. You can see the arrow to the next level, but it does not work.

IE latest version/Windows:
"Fotos" menu always shows only first level. You can see the arrow to the next level, but it does not work.

Firefox/Windows: On "Suchen" screen and single album level "Fotos" menu shows two levels.
On all other screens "Fotos" menu always shows only first level.

I saw that single albums and search screen use as only pages the same template (Standard Album Template).

I can only assume, that in this template there are whatever settings, that allow the second menu level to work, while in other templates there are whatever settings that makes second menu not to work.

Probably other browsers as Firefox render a bit different so they also disable the second menu level on pages using the Standard Album Template.

As it used to work before, there must have been something in the update that broke the layout.

#7 Re: Backlight Support » Upgrade v1.1.1 --> v2.2.2 r3 » 2017-10-19 06:40:54

I have only the default menu set and there the "Fotos" menu is set to "Descend up to 2 levels".

On the page templates I cannot find any option to select different Menu Sets, maybe because I have only the default one?

#8 Re: Backlight Support » Upgrade v1.1.1 --> v2.2.2 r3 » 2017-10-19 05:53:35

Hi Rod,

I copied the complete folder but for some reason the 4 single files in the folder have been skipped.

I looks much better now, some hick-ups still that might be wrong configurations from my side, but looks a bit strange, e.g. on main page http://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz.com/ttg/ the "Fotos" menu has only 1 level while on "Suchen" page http://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz.c … ht/search/ the "Fotos" menu has 2 levels.

But the main problem is fixed.

Thanks for that,
Markus

Ok, I now managed to destroy my galleries.

First I replaced the folders from the Okapi 1.2x download.
--> I think already at this stage the problems occured.

Then I copied from the v2.2.2 r3 download
- the folder TTG-Publisher.lrplugin
- all folders from the /backlight folder except /data and /custom (and also not the okapi only ones in /modules)
- I did not touch any file in the /data and /custom folder
- I did not touch index.php, env.php.skel, config.php in folder /backlight
- I did not touch index.php and .htaccess on top level
- I cleared the template cache

You can see the result here:

http://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz.com/ttg/

The lowest level of a single gallery seems still to work, all higher levels throw errors (+ the "slightshow" gallery that used to be hidden in navigation is shown there and you can access is as a gallery while it used only to show up as slideshow.

Examples:
works: http://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz.c … 016_03_08/

not found: http://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz.c … 016_02_08/

works not: http://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz.c … ries/2016/

Thanks for checking,
Markus

Hi,

I have downloaded the latest v2.2.2 r3 and wonder how to proceed for upgrading from version 1.1.1.

My theory according to the changelog:

do: **v1.2.0** (2017-06-30)
skip: **v1.2.1** (2017-07-07)
skip: **v1.2.2 Release 1** (2017-07-18)
skip: **v1.2.2 Release 2** (2017-07-31)
do: **v1.2.2 Release 3** (2017-09-10)

Assuming to find the required directories/files for the 1.2.0 procedure in the 1.2.2 r3 download as well.

Thanks,
Markus

#11 Re: Backlight Support » Thumbnail size - Header » 2017-03-25 23:18:26

Hi Rod,

I use Classic Style.

This is the album published after changing the settings (before there was a mix of sizes resulting in some stretching of thumbnails):

http://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz.c … 016_02_07/

BTW, template cache is cleared.

For the header, nothing special, just the option to use custom text other than the Company name including some formating and maybe some image elements.
You already mentioned phpplugins, so obviously there is the option to replace some parts of the code with customized code?

Rgds,
Markus

Good day,

1) I have some problems with the size of the thumbnails:

I have set all thumbnail sizes I could find in templates (both album set and album templates) to 168 width + 168 height.

I republished an album from Lightroom, the width of the thumbnails in Backlight now is 168, but the height is whatever it takes to keep the correct aspect ratio having a width of 168. I would expect that 168 is used for either height or width whatever if larger and the other dimension is smaller to keep the correct aspect ratio. Is my expectation wrong or are there some settings missing from my side?

2) How can I customize the header section of Backlight pages? I mean the area above the navigation area.
The only option I found yet is to set a Company Name in the Backlight Settings, which is displayed as text in the header.

Thanks,
Markus

Good day,

when I enter text in a Backlight page, Backlight seems to interprete some characters not as text.
E.g. a dash "-" or a number like "2." seem to result in effects like line breaks and the character itself is not displayed.

Is there a list of "forbidden" characters and the effects when using them? And can these banned elements be masked somehow so they are treated as text again?

Thanks,
Markus

#15 Re: Backlight Support » Move Backlight to new folder » 2017-03-12 02:45:51

After renaming this file also, I can access publisher settings, and Lightroom finds Publisher again.
God knows what I'm destroying while doing all that.

#16 Re: Backlight Support » Move Backlight to new folder » 2017-03-12 02:43:04

After renaming the .htaccess file in admin I can login.
When I try to go to Publisher settings, again not found.
I look in folder backlight/publisher/ and see there as well only a .htaccess_disabled.

Has this disabling been done by my provider or by backlight?

#17 Re: Backlight Support » Move Backlight to new folder » 2017-03-12 02:33:02

And Lightroom does not find Publisher:

http://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz.c … publisher/

--> "unable to find Publisher. Please check that the API URL is correct."

#19 Re: Backlight Support » Move Backlight to new folder » 2017-03-12 02:24:13

In admin folder I see only file .htaccess_disabled, no .htaccess, no idea if this should be like this (but is since first installation according to file date).

#20 Re: Backlight Support » Move Backlight to new folder » 2017-03-12 02:16:41

Found:
http://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz.c … /index.php

Obviously index.php is not found automatically while being there.

The .htaccess on domain level is not the backlight one, on /ttg folder it is.

But the whole idea is that on domain level my old index.html is used and only from folder /ttg downwards the backlight stuff.

Hm, this manual entering of index.php to URL does not work for admin folder...still not found in that case.

Not found:
http://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz.c … /index.php

#21 Re: Backlight Support » Move Backlight to new folder » 2017-03-11 23:30:41

Found:
http://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz.com/ttg/contact/

Not found:
http://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz.c … ht/search/

I have changed in Backlight settings the site URL to http://www.entscheidend-is-aufm-platz.com/ttg/, don't know if this was good, bad or neutral...

Basically just all data that have been at domain level have been moved to folder /ttg

Good day,

I wanted to move my Backlight page to a new folder for migration period.

Used to be in "domain", shall be in "domain/ttg".

I moved index.php and .htaccess to folder ttg,
moved folders backlight and galleries to folder ttg.

I can access the galleries with domain/ttg/galleries.
I can acess the backlight login with domain/ttg/backlight.

But if I try to login, I get
"Not Found
The requested URL /ttg/backlight/ was not found on this server."

The same for the search:
"The requested URL /ttg/backlight/search/ was not found on this server."

The other pages can be found, like the galleries themselves, the about and contact pages.

Obviously somewhere I have to edit some paths somehow, but where? In the administration or in the index.php?

Thanks,
Markus

#24 Backlight Support » Order of Album Sets and Albums » 2017-02-25 00:30:02

Hi there,

I have a webpage with sport pics, the pictures are ordered by season, then by league, then by match.

So I created in Lightroom album sets for the seasons, then within each season album set the league album sets, then within each league album set the match albums.

Now I want to order it on top level by season year descending=latest first,
on second level by whatever league order I prefer,
on album level again by match date descending=latest first.

The result should be like this:

season 2017
- league A
>> match 2
>> match 1
- league B
>> match 2
>> match 1
season 2016
- league A
>> match 2
>> match 1
- league B
>> match 2
>> match 1

I gave all album sets and albums a slug so I could order it descending by slug to get the wished order.
So my slugs ordered descending would look like this:

2017
2017_02
2017_02_02
2017_02_01
2017_01
2017_01_02
2017_01_01
2016
2016_02
2016_02_02
2016_02_01
2016_01
2016_01_02
2016_01_01

The only place I found where I can set some ordering is in Backlight>Publisher>Top-level Galleries>Order Albums by, what I set to "Slug -descending".

As a result, I get this order:

2017
2017_01
2017_02_01
2017_02_02
2017_02
2017_01_01
2017_01_02
2016
2016_01
2016_02_01
2016_02_02
2016_02
2016_01_01
2016_01_02

Meaning, the top level is ordered by slug descending, the other levels ascending.

Is this a feature, or did I miss some settings for the lower levels?
And, do the lower levels order at all by slug ascending or maybe by whatever else criteria (creation date, title,...) leading to this result?

Thanks,
Markus
