Plus if you need to make a change to a album, you make the change in publisher and boom!  It is on the site!  Make a layout change?  Export new gallery template and upload to /Publisher/template folder, Boom! New template on galleries pages!

Once I started to use publisher, I was amazed at how much easier it makes maintaining my photo albums!  I even use it to maintain my videos I self host ,  gives me same functions with a little extra work for the videos, but it is worth it for the ease in maintaining the albums once built!

Hi,

I will let Matt or one of the moderators answer the storing of the unique album descriptions, but I can answer the second part of your question regarding the creation of separate User Template Instances....the answer is no (unless you want different layout of galleries)

For example, why my site has is one Gallery Template and when using Publisher (which I HIGHLY Recommend), when you create your album, you specify which gallery template to use (the template is uploaded to a folder in the /publisher/templates folder.  There is also an Auto Index template which you can create and put into the /publisher/template_autoindex folder.

If you had an instance where you wanted to different layouts for your galleries, you could create two layouts (lets say for example you want a layout for portraits and another layout for landscapes)  So you could name one template Portraits and the other Landscape so when you create your album and specify the template to use (via Publisher) you can pick the Portrait or Landscape Template.

I would look into the Publisher product because once you have it setup you will find it so much easier to maintain your galleries!

I do most of my TTG work on my iMac, but there are times (like with I travel) that I may want to make adjustments to the template via my laptop (not update photos via publisher), it is possible to share the templates between computers?

Would I just need to copy the layout from the Web Galleries on iMac to my Macbook Pro then recopy back when I am back home?  I realize that once I make changes and republish to local computer that I would need to FTP new template to my site so that when I do publish the photos via Publisher that the new template would be used.

Just looking to ensure this is possible.

Thanks!

#4 General » Auto Index and GoDaddy Subdomain - Enhancement Request » 2013-03-13 01:10:54

Hi Matt,

I have seen multiple posts (including one regarding my own site) about the known issue with Go Daddy's non-standard install.  I just modified one of my sites with the steps to add the SUBDOMAIN_DOCUMENT_ROOT to all the Autoindex.php files (including my template files).

Now that CE3 is complete (since I suspect that has taken most of your time), would it be possible to add a check box (default off) to indicate if the subdomain is on Go Daddy, then the Export Procedure could add the SUBDOMAIN_DOCUMENT_ROOT instead of DOCUMENT_ROOT by default?

I think that could help you reduce the # of comments opened for the same request, since you cannot change Go Daddy's installation and not everyone will jump to Bluehost.com for hosting.

I just need to now remember that every time I make a change to my pages, that I need to modify the AUTOINDEX.PHP file.....which is going to be frequently as the site is still in development, once done it will not be required as frequently.

THanks!

Ken

PS - CE3 is Freaking AWESOME!!!!!  I like the update available this AM with the "Natural" menu options on mobile devices!!!!!

Are CE2 and CE3 allowed to both be installed at the same time? Also, any known issues of running CE3 Pages with CE2 Theme for wordpress? or any other CE2 product not updated to CE3?
