#1 Re: CE4 Publisher » file owners and permission requirements » 2014-10-04 18:00:30

Ok, thank you for your comments.

However, I decided to give up - it takes too much time and frustration to get this running as expected. Since I do not plan to have an enormous amount of galleries, I will use that standard copy method with CE-Gallery and leave alone publisher.

Thanks again
Thomas

Hello,

I continue to get very long error messages which I do not really understand, that however lead me to think, that some access permissions need to changed (e.g. for the sqlite database file.

Can somebody detail me exactly, what owners should all the ce4 files on the var/www tree have?
And also, can somebody detail me exactly, what permissions need to be set up for all files and folders in the ce4 tree?

Or maybe can point me to the documentation smile

Thank you.

#3 CE4 Publisher » Search does not work as expected » 2014-10-04 02:50:34

Hello

I have installed ttg-be. It works somehow,
- user/password protection for galleries does work,
- also the mail on the contact page does work fine,

However, Search does not work. I can enter a search string in the search page, but it will not find anything. I tried with album names, image titles and captions.

What do I need to check?

Thanks for any help

#4 CE4 Publisher » Publisher uses wrong setup? » 2014-10-04 02:47:12

I ran into a lot of trouble initially, since my web provider could not enable me sqlite, etc (would be nice to have a prerequisites document somewhere, so to read it before buying the package) . So I had no other choice that to look for a different web server.

I have changed this now. However, when in the library tab in LR5 and selected either of the two publisher selections, I see in the upper right area of the window, just before the "Publish" button links to 2 different sites.

Both are wrong and I do not know how to set these correctly. I was looking up the settings in the "Lightroom Publishing Manager" dialog box, and the API URL is set to the correct system (What stands API for in this context?). Testing the connection with "Check Authentication" went ok.

When hitting the "Publish" button just mentioned, I receive a large "Warning" box with an error message "An internal error has occurred: "JSON.lua:458 ...". So I am stuck with using publisher for the moment.

How can I make sure, I have the correct setting?
What does this error message mean?

Thanks for any help

Hello,
I am joining the "beginners" community too.
I was trying to read through the documentation, however, I have some issues with understanding some of the basic concepts I guess.
Following the tutorial documents, I managed to get the system up once, meaning that I could create a basic site with Pages. I then created a gallery template and finally managed to publish 2 albums using the publisher.
But now I still have lots of questions and also several problems:

1. The "Setup a Publisher Instance" document says:

With CE4 Publisher installed, you now need to setup an “instance” of the publisher for each location to which you wish to publish galleries, i.e. for each target location. A target location may be any of the following:
If using CE4 Pages, the target folder will typically be the /galleries folder.
If using CE4 Auto Index, you may use any auto index folder as your target.
If using neither CE4 Pages nor CE4 Auto Index, you may create an empty folder to use as target.

Does this mean I may either use CE4 Pages or CE4 Auto Index? I understood, that pages is for the basic site, whereas AutoIndex assembles an index page of my galleries, that I am going to upload with publisher. Is there some structured information about how all the different CE4 components work together? I am missing this.

2. I was looking up the settings in the "Lightroom Publishing Manager" dialog box, and the API URL is set to the correct system. What stands API for in this context? And API key?

3. When hitting the "Publish" button just mentioned, I receive a large "Warning" box with an error message "An internal error has occurred: "JSON.lua:458 ...". So I am stuck with using publisher for the moment.

4. Probably a basic usage question: in LR5 on the right panel of the Web modul, I can select the "Layout Style". So CE4 uses these as accessing diffent modules, not layouts, right? I see that I use the Pages, Viewport Sizer and Gallery for the relative purposes. However, when do I select Auto Index? This is probably still related to the fact, that I do not understand the CE4 architecture.

5. After trials and obviously errors i would like to make sure, that the folder structure on the webserver is ok. What would be the folder structure for a site to be manages with Pages, Publisher, Gallery, Auto Index starting from the www-root folder?

6. I have installed ttg-be. It works some how, at least user/password protection for galleries does work, Also the mail on the contact page does work fine. However, Search does not work. I can enter a search string in the search page, but it will not find anything. I tried with album names, image titles and captions. What do I need to check?

Thanks for any help with the topics above.

#6 Re: CE4 Pages » CE4-Pages - Contact mail information wrong » 2014-09-11 21:12:17

Hello Ben,

pls see below the entire message, that i receive in my Inbox:

Name: Thomas
Email: thomas@abc.de
Message: Tvb
From Page: http://www.abcd.de:81/contact.php
Sender IP Address: 31.27.120.221

(I have replaced the actual domain names for privacy.)

So in the mail I receive a link to "http.//www.abc.de:81" is included. The ":81" is the TCP port number. Standard HTTP is 80. I have 81 on my system, this is the way it was configured.

The server is on my intranet. In order to access it from the Internet, I need to configure the port forwarding feature on my router. The effect is, that any request to "www.abc.de" (implicit port is 80 so this is equivalent to "www.abc.de:80" will be redirected to my internal web server, which has a different address and is responding at port 81. In this way, my server is only exposed to HTTP on the Internet.

However, when accessing the server at port 81 from the Internet, the port forwarding is not working, since it was not configured that way.

Obviously I could add another router rule. Or I could reconfigure my internal server to use different ports. Or I could just leave it alone, since I probably will not use the link in the incoming email.

I saw in the contact.php file the "currentPageURL" function, which is probably providing the "From Page" information, however, when I would change this it would be deleted after the next update, I guess.

#7 Re: CE4 Pages » unsufficient permission to delete files » 2014-09-11 18:26:42

Ok, yes, but do you get root access to your host server?

I used the same user id and thus permission to store the files on the host as when I tried to delete them again.

Hello,

new to CE4-Pages I just managed to setup a small test site. After doing the first trials and errors in a subfolder of my web server (Buffalo Terastation) I would like to delete the non working site files. So I tried to do so via SMB (Windows) and FTP. However, there are a few files in the ttg-be and galleries folder that I am not able to erase. I get the following error message

you require permission from unix apache ...

I also installed the trial site on a hosted Linux/Apache server using ftp, and I get the same error message.

I looked up the support pages from Buffalo but could not find a solution there. So I was wondering if anybody in the environment had similar experience and could help me to delete the obsolete files.

Thanks for any help

#9 CE4 Pages » CE4-Pages - Contact mail information wrong » 2014-09-11 18:00:51

Hello,

new to CE4-Pages I just managed to setup a small test site. I even managed to get the contact page running, however, the information in the mail received is not correct.

In the mail, the source is mentioned as below:

  From Page: http://www.abc.de:81/contact.php

The address is ok, but the port number is not. In my configuration I have port redirection to my internal web server. The external port 80 is mapped to the internal port 81 (Buffalo Terastation). So if I try to access the external dns name with the internal port number, it does not work. I think I would need to get rid of the port number in the "From Page:" line.

How could I achieve this? What would be the best way, in order that after future CE4-Pages updates it would still work?

Thanks for any help
Thomas
