#2 Re: Backlight Support » Image Gallery with outside top menu? » 2020-02-12 08:31:52

OK thanks, Rod. Where would be a good resource to figure out how to do that?

I have created a Bootstrap main page that references Backlight 1 image galleries along with several other pages. I'd like to use the same top menu for all. I'd like to either

A: have the Bootstrap menu show up in Backlight galleries

B: show the Backlight galleries in Bootstrap pages

What is the best approach?

Thanks!

Is there a link showing how to attach Backlight galleries to an existing website? I want to keep my existing index.html landing page and add galleries though a link. Simple, I'm sure, just not sure how to set up Backlight galleries and not have the main Backlight page show up instead.

Thanks!

All my image captions are getting a period added automatically. Where do I go to control this behavior?

Whenever I work with Backlight I find a file called ttg.txt in my Documents directory in Windows 10. Is there a way to either prevent this or redirect it somewhere else?

Thanks!

#9 Backlight Support » Galleries button covers breadcrumbs » 2017-09-21 13:23:49

I’m having a minor problem. When an album set on my website is narrowed to the break point and the sidebar description disappears, the Galleries button covers part of the breadcrumbs. This page is a good example:

Is this because I have the header set incorrectly somehow?

Thanks!

#11 Backlight Support » Video not playing after adding code to album » 2017-07-27 14:33:55

I'm trying to save space on this page by putting information above the video in a two column format using HTML tables and css. Here's the page:

http://creepyhouse.net/galleries/the-st … i-phaeton/

Here's the code I added:

<html>
<head>
<meta charset="utf-8">
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<style type="text/css">
.tg  {border-collapse:collapse;border-spacing:0;}
.tg td{padding:8px 8px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;}
.tg th{padding:8px 8px;border-style:solid;border-width:1px;overflow:hidden;word-break:normal;}
.tg .tg-yw4l{vertical-align:top}
</style>
<body>
<p>1935 Verna VI Model 23, Type PN605 Phaeton with coachwork by Tronce' Dom of Marco City</p>
<table width="85%" border="0">
  <tr>
    <td width="40%" align="left" valign="top" class="tg-yw4l"><strong>Wheelbase:</strong> 152”<br>
    <strong>Track:</strong> 60”<br>
    <strong>Weight:</strong> 6100 Lbs.<br>
    <strong>Tire Size: </strong>750-17<br>
    <strong>Engine:</strong> 45-degree 7200 cc (450.2 cu in.) OHV V12<br>    <strong>Bore and Stroke: </strong>3.5” x 3.9”<br>
    <strong>Output: </strong>140 BHP @ 3500 RPM</td>
    <td width="60%
    " align="left" valign="top" class="tg-yw4l">bla bla bla</td>
  </tr>
</table>
</head>
</body>
</html>

But after I add this code the video doesn't load or play. Have I formatted the code incorrectly?

#12 Re: Backlight Showcase » Latest version up » 2017-07-08 11:59:51

Thanks Matt. I was just about to write in and ask what was going on about that. I'll use our advice and fix it. Another thought: Is it possible to make the social media icon appear on the left as well as the right?

Thanks!

I reconstituted Creepyhouse almost from scratch using the cool new features of Backlight 1.2.1. Not everything's there, but I'm impressed with what Pangolin can do. This was a much easier upgrade than previous versions! Thanks to Matt and company as always. Please let me know what you think.

I use Edge a lot and your galleries look great from here. Nice work!

Ah! That worked. You know much that is not known!

#17 Re: Backlight Support » Font Awesome and Social Media Icons Section » 2017-07-04 02:04:24

Sounds cool Rob. Thanks.

I've gotten the social media icon section working, but I've run into one other problem. I've gotten the correct icon names from Font Awesome (fa fa-facebook in this case), but the page always shows the same flag icon regardless of which name I specify. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

I'm loving the changes so far in Backlight 1.2. I have several questions but will stick to one topic at a time.

I've never used Font Awesome. Is it a service I have to subscribe to or pay for? I've entered the Font Awesome icon name for Facebook, and entered my URL in the new Social Media section of the template. Backlight adds a little "people plus" icon to the top right corner of my page. If you click on it, it shows the wrong icon, but it does link to my Facebook account.

How do I find the correct icon? Can I have the icons appear in the footer without the people plus thing, like before? How can I make them bigger?

Thanks!

#20 Backlight Support » Server Error message after updating to backlight 1.2 » 2017-07-01 10:38:54

Replies: 1

I upgraded to 1.2 using the instructions in the README files for backlight-Pages and Theatre.

Two issues:

One: I now get this error whenever I try to open my website http://creepyhouse.net/ and when I try to open http://creepyhouse.net/backlight/admin/?a=login. Is this something I’ve done in the update or is this my domain?

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, cgiadmin@yourhostingaccount.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Two: the instructions for the Theatre upgrade say to copy the downloaded /backlight/modules/module-theater . However, the folder in the download is actually called pangolin-theater. I copied it over to /backlight/modules, but do I delete the old module-theater or just leave it?

Thanks!

#21 Backlight Support » A Question on Album Thumbnail CSS » 2017-04-11 07:43:40

Replies: 1

I'm getting the effect I want with my album set thumbnails using this in my custom CSS page:

.the__albumSet figure a {
	background-color: rgba(0,0,0,1.00); 	/* Color of album background */
	border: 0 solid rgb(110, 110, 110); 	/* Color album border */
	border-width: 2px; 						/* Frame thickness of album */
	border-radius: 10px; /* Rounding of the corners of album frame */
	color: #000000; /* Color of the caption for album thumbnail */
	display: block;
	height: auto; /* Height of album sets */
	width: auto;
	margin-top: 10px; /* Margin between the thumbnail and the frame */
	margin-right: 10px;
	margin-left: 10px;
	margin-bottom: 10px;
	background-repeat: no-repeat;
	overflow: hidden;
	text-decoration: none;
	align-content: center;
}

I want to do the same thing in the Albums themselves, but not sure what the equivalent to this would be to format the Album thumbnails themselves.

Ideas?

#22 Re: Backlight Support » Can't Find "Location" metadata item in Lightroom » 2017-04-03 14:20:37

OK cool, Rob! I've added the {Location} token to Thumbnails Metadata 02 under Image Metadata in the album template, added some information in the Sublocation metadata box in Lightroom, and saved and published the results. But I'm still not seeing Location showing up under the thumbnail.

I'm testing this out on the picture High Tide in http://creepyhouse.net/galleries/The-Da … he-Bosque/. Do I need to modify the custom css file for this to show?

Please straighten me out on something here:

According to the documentation, Backlight supports the Location Lightroom metadata item, but not Sublocation. However, in Lightroom I can easily find the Sublocation entry window, while Location doesn't even appear if I try to edit the Metadata presets. Is this a typo? How do I find and add to the Location tag in Lightroom?

Is it possible for the thumbnail of a video gallery to appear in an album along with regular photo thumbnails, or are they limited to Album Sets? (I hope this question makes sense!)
