#1 Re: General » Irritations » 2014-03-15 00:21:25

I did and I also checked the boxes "Catch iPad/iPhone", which you told me to uncheck, when I wanted to have HighSlide-performance on mobile devices. So now it's all really the way I want it.
Enough for today: "Don't push you luck, Huub!"
Thanks, Rod!

#2 Re: General » Irritations » 2014-03-14 23:27:24

I was very inaccurate in explaining the (little) problem, I realized after your reply.
It was not the display-time that was way too short, but the time the caption and title info was shown.
After another good search I discovered a small section in the CE3 Theme for WordPress, where this autohide-time can be set. I changed the 1 sec. in 7 sec.: issue solved!

So more and more it's going to look and perform the way I like it. Now I must try and see how, on mobile devices, galleries are automatically shown with PhotoSwipe, and after that there's very little for me to want or wish.

#3 Re: General » Irritations » 2014-03-14 17:41:58

Well, Rod Barbee, you've done it again! I followed your instructions precisely and it turned out to be a succes:
- on iPad it looks very nice, in landscape, with my normal (horizontal) menu. Great!
- portraitscape-iPad shows the three-line-menu icon, below it the Galleria. Not bad, as this is not the best way to hold you iPad for this.
- on iPhone it looks the same as on portrait-iPad, which isn't too bad at all. Like I said before, in my opinion an iPhone isn't the optimal platform for showing/looking at images.
I must say I do not understand why it works now, but, to be honest with you, I don't want/need to know. I'm happy the looks have improved significantly!

Furthermore: on iPhone I like PhotoSwipe better than HighSlide: bigger display of images, without loss of useless space, and the caption-possibility. However, with this last item there's one strange problem: although I have set the display time at 7 seconds, it  doesn't change the actual display, about 1 second, way too short to be of any use! Is there another place to set the display-time in PhotoSwipe?

Anyway, for this moment thanks once again: you've made my day!
Best regards,
Huub Martens.

@Rod: I must say I am impressed by the perseverance you guys show, in trying to get things working like it should be. Much obliged!
At the moment I am on a short in-week-holiday in the Belgian Ardennes, but as soon as I am back home I will try what you suggested. Of course, Rod, I will let you know if things worked out right!

#5 Re: General » Irritations » 2014-03-03 19:00:36

Wel, Rod, this morning I started to implement all the tips/changes you sent me, without any success.
There is still no Full-Flip-Gallery to be seen on iPad, neither is the Galleria there to be seen on the Homepage.
A change I do see: on iPad and iPhone the Galleries are now shown in HighSlide-mode, but WITHOUT titles or captions!!?? And WITH ugly white arrows, not the kind of yellow I am using.
Thanks for the help, too bad it didn't cause any satisfying results.
(meanwhile I've  set everything back like it was on www.humarts.nl)

First: I don't know under which category my questions belongs, so I place it in "General."

I am ready to roll with my site. It looks very nice to me (which is the most important) and I've received a lot of positive feedback from people I asked to take a look and criticize what they encountered.

There's only one major cause of irritation left: the display on tablets (mobile phones are less important to me), both iPads and/or Windows/Android tablets like Samsung-devices.

About the menu we've had some conversation in the recent past. It's still not what I want, but I've given up the struggle.
There's much more disappointment about the way Galleries are shown. Galleries is what it is all about! I prefer to use HighSlide and on tablets it turns out to have been changed in PhotoSwipe-galleries, which give me hardly any chance to customize things: no colors the way I want them and no title and/or caption shown!
As always I ask myself: what am I doing wrong? But: AM I doing things wrong? Please tell me what!

Additional question: the beautiful homepage Full-Flip-Gallery is supposed to be shown in a Galleria way on tablets. I enabled the checkbox, but nothing like that happens!? Because.......?

Well, talking about smooth updating!
Everything works well, there's no difference to be seen on my website actually, which means it all went quick and painless!
Checking the plug-in versions assured me all the new ones are properly installed.
Good job, guys!

OK, I did NOT realize this. Thanks again!

Ok, now that a lot of starter problems have been solved, the show is getting on the road.
There are a lot of questions remaining: the more I discover, the more I get excited!

For now it feels good to focus a bit more on content. I filled two pages with as little information as needed, the "About" and the "Contact" pages (under the user- and envelope-icon). To express my gratitude to the guys who have helped me a lot to come this far, I give them the credits they deserve, as you can see in the bottom-line of the "About"-page!

Have a nice weekend!

First: I apologize for the repeated question at the end of my answer in the "Help!" topic.

Yes, like I told you, no matter how I tried with PoEdit, I just couldn't change that one little part in a post-answer/reaction.
The change in functions.php did the trick. I am too much an amateur (like I've proven yesterday evening, blush blush) to know if this is the right way to handle this issue. What I did was backing-up the functions.php-file for future use.

(and, as you know, this future is very nearby ..... wink)

#12 Re: General » @Matthew: translation-problem » 2014-02-12 22:26:05

Matthew:

I fixed the error that caused Huub says instead of Huub zegt.

It's all in functions.php, within the Custom Comment Layout (starting in line 286), where in line 296 I changed says in Dutch zegt.

Is this of any use for you?

#13 Re: General » @Matthew: translation-problem » 2014-02-12 18:34:20

@Matthew:
Did you receive the Dutch language-files?

#15 Re: General » @Matthew: translation-problem » 2014-02-11 06:03:38

Well, there you have the reason for the misunderstanding: on my iMac I do not use Outlook, but Mail from Apple, which doesn't open automatically!? Irritating, but true.
But it gets even stranger: when I click on "email" below the picture in YOUR posts, Mail opens immediately!?
What to do?

#16 Re: General » @Matthew: translation-problem » 2014-02-11 03:27:12

@Rod: I can see that (in fact, I already saw it), but how can I attach two files at the message?

#17 Re: General » @Matthew: translation-problem » 2014-02-11 01:54:42

No problem! What is the exact e-mailadress?

#18 Re: General » @Matthew: translation-problem » 2014-02-11 00:06:43

OK, what do you want me to do?
Shall I / Can I send the .po- and .mo-files to you?
Or do you "grab" them from my site!
Just let me know, I'm glad if I could be be of any use!!

#19 Re: General » @Matthew: translation-problem » 2014-02-10 23:06:31

Matthew,

I just finished my Dutch-translation for the TTG CE3 Theme for WordPress! Okay!! Of course I have gone through several checking-sessions. Not without result:

The only problem left is when I visit my Dashboard and go to Appearances -Theme Options - (tab) Basic Settings.
There are some lines remaining in English, which do have translated in the nl_NL.po-file.
For some reason the change-to-Dutch is not effective her on these English fragments.
What may be the reason?

Matthew,
As promised I am working on a Dutch translation of TTG CE3 Theme for WordPress. At the moment I am working my way through some technical stuff, about formats for iPad and iPhone and so. Not the most interesting part, but it's there, so I keep on going, doing little parts each time I work on it. There is, however, one error in the translation I cannot get rid of.

To see what I mean, please be so kind to navigate to my site, where you enter the Blog homepage. I have place a reaction on my own post and there, as you watch closely, is the spot I have problems with.

The reaction starts with: "Eén antwoord to ...", being Dutch for "One answer to ..." The Dutch fragment should be "Eén antwoord op ..." The small English word "to" should be the Dutch "op."
The same goes for an error just a few lines lower. There you see: "Huub says", which must be "Huub zegt"
I know these are details, but hey, we're trying to do a truly good job here!

Until now I haven't been able to remove this errors, no matter how hard I tried, reading the nl_NL.po-file over and over again. In the source code I can see these fragments are inside a <div>...</div> part of the page. And that's where it ends for me.

Curious to know your opinion!

Best regards,
Huub Martens.

#23 General » Embedding HTML in Pages/Galleries » 2014-01-28 20:37:14

As you can see on www.humarts.nl I used TTG 2014 HTML Gallery for a quickly made photo view.

I wonder if it is possible to get that, what you see there, within the webpages I made with TTG Pages/Galleries, my masthead and navigation still in sight and ready to be used (i.e. the menu of course). If I'm right this is called "embedding." A HTML-design within a PHP-environment. Is my assumption correct?

If possible, then comes, as expected, the question how to achieve this!?

#24 Re: General » Center the navigation items » 2014-01-28 18:01:39

How do I close this topic and start a new one?

#25 Re: General » Center the navigation items » 2014-01-28 16:36:17

OK, another issue solved! I wouldn't have noticed it in years, unless some other icon would have appeared. Thanks again!
More and more I'm beginning to understand what is going on and what is meant by "mobile menu kicking in."
Let's move on: to Infinity and Beyond! roll
