How do I target all h1 headings on my pages but not the logo/masterhead. I'm trying to make the Galleries heading  it line up with the rest of the text but every time I use the css code it moves the masterhead  off center. I've been able to do this to all the other headings h2 to h6 and the paragraphs.

#3 Re: General » Publish to a seperate slideshow from LR » 2014-06-13 22:36:17

Thank you very much for your detailed reply.

"I managed to make it work yesterday but then I tried to put the side nav menu using the code in the tutorial and things whent wrong."

I had a slideshow working as I wanted. I then tried to change the navigation to the side one using the custom code. I made a back up of the css folder and the php folder first. When copied the code I got the side menu on all my wordpress pages, home, about,shop, but on the gallery pages it was the original nav menu and the cart one was a mess? So i replaced with the back up files but the side nav was still there. I cleared all my cache and it was still there. then on the stage slide show it kept say an image was unable to be found and the slide show would not work? I then went through every photo file through all the site and deleated anything I could find. Re did all my galleries and templates etc. after that the whole site disapeared and I couldn't even log on to wordpress. so i've now deleated the lot on blue host and am now starting  again.

The way you described is how I did it so I don't understand what went wrong.

#4 Re: General » Publish to a seperate slideshow from LR » 2014-06-13 16:25:15

Hi Mat,
I have taken all the stage related things back off the site and would like to start again with it. I managed to make it work yesterday but then I tried to put the side nav menu using the code in the tutorial and things whent wrong.  In the document for publisher it mentions second instances for publisher to be discussed somewhere else but I can not find the somewhere else. What I need to know is..
do i need a second galleries folder to run along side the original galleries folder.
do I need a second instance of publisher to publish to a "new images"  page with a galleria slide show accessable from the nav bar.
this would be directed to the galleries2 folder.
do I create auto index and templates
on the server path in LR do I need to direct it to the galleries2 folder for the stage page or does that stay the same as all the other pages as just galleries.

thanks

Robert

I had the stage thing working yesterday but now it dosen't!!!! Is there a link to any instructions for adding a second instance with publisher. I presume thats what I need ( and did do for it to work) as a seperate gallery to my main galleries. Starting all over again!

Cheers

Thanks Mat,
Got it. Looks like it does a few more things for me to get confused about.

I have set up a second instance on publisher to place new images in another gallery folder with a new nav heading of Recent Work. On this page I would like a slideshow like the galleria one on my home page, but which can be added to directly from LR at the same time as adding to the normal galleries. I only seem to be able to use photoswipe or the highslide which takes you in to full screensloideshow. Is this possible or do I have to upload to WP and then to a slideshow created page through WP? Or am I missing something?

Thank you very much Rod. Thats worked a treat. I zeroed the padding on the container and dropped the padding on the nav items to 24px. Have a look and tell me what you think. Once again to Rod and Mat cheers for fantastic support to a complete novice. I'll be back i'm sure!!

#9 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-15 22:34:02

I had put it in earlier but took it back out when things weren't going my way. It's back now and if you look the nav items ,home ,about etc  are not central to the container . as you and Mat pointed out," I found the problem. It's because you faked the centering using 125px of padding on either side. That is NOT the way to center an object. So yes, as Rod said, you will need to kill that padding."

Cheers

Rob

Got the nav centred but still same problem with boxes been cut off on the phone . And there's also a shadow cast by the drop down box?

#10 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-15 20:18:21

All files look in same place as listed here and in tutorials. The problem has been with CS6 saving corrupt png files. re done on CS5 and all's good and working as should. I like the way you can change the shape to a square which works much better on the phone. The phplugins all seem to be working. So onwards and  upwards  then. Just now need to sort the navagation bar out. This bit of code

.sf-menu ul {
     margin: 0 auto;
    width: 600px;
}
and
.sf-menu li {
    float: left;
    width: 150px;
}
dosen't seem  to do what I would like which is to centralise the navigation headings and not use the padding as you said, so hopefully the drop downs won't get chopped of in the mobile view. So any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks

Robert

#11 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-15 17:58:12

ok got a head up. What file types can I use? I have tried png and psd. The head framework /borders margin etc size was visable but no masterhead image. I have changed to a jpg and that works. Only problem is the logo is over a clear background and when I put the hex code in for the colour they never seem to match up.

#12 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-15 15:53:21

also the nav menu still wont centralise so as not having to use the padding. The drop down bit does but thats not what i was after. Do i need to change anything in the templates and upload again?

#13 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-15 15:52:13

Stay with me please i may fall!

I've put them here  public_html/galleries/phplugins/images as in the instructions  All of these, I dump into a folder on my web server, /phplugins/images/.

#15 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-15 15:19:38

that would be galleries/phplugins/images/logo_hd_1100x192d.png); in the css file then? sorry for being thick just don't want to be going backwards again.

Thanks for the help though.

#16 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-15 15:12:43

backgrounds gone red. so thats something positive out of the last 2 days!! ha ha!

#17 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-15 15:09:21

somethings happened. I've lost all my masterhead?

#18 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-15 14:50:37

Thank you.
I don't understand. when I click on that link above I can see all the code i've pasted in?

My head hurts so i'm probable missing something simple here but how do I change the path to your custom css in the phplugins file to /galleries/phplugins/css/custom.css because it looks all the same to me. Is where the page is looking not just further into the folder structure than the bold bit. The lightroom bit says that path. When I click on the folders to go further in on blue host file editor the file structure looks just like that that you have shown.
Tired!!!!

#19 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-15 14:03:05

Hi Mathew.

This is where on blue host my css folder is public_html/galleries/phplugins/css. this is the server path in lightroom after ping my phpplugin /home5/catchli8/public_html/galleries/phplugins. I followed all the doc on installation. I have just tried body { background-color: red; } nothing happens. I have also done this to change masterhead which is in the css file at the address above. Nothing works. The image for the mobile is a square logo but nothing changes.

#20 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-15 11:56:35

Last go as the computer is about to leave the building!
from the begining.
1 Wordpress and Wordpress theme installed
2 Auto index -lightroom and labelled galleries then uploaded to server
3 gallerys- in lightroom
4 publisher- lightroom and then uploaded  gallery temp and auto index uploaded to server.
5 cart- installed in server.

all the above have been hacked  and dupped with the phpplugins box checked and path pinged etc.

Removed the "delete this lines" from  the phplugins.php file to enable custom functions.

out of all the above I can only find one css folder in /galleries/phplugins/css. This is empty when i first opened it. I put this code
.sf-menu ul {
     margin: 0 auto;
    width: 600px;
}
and
.sf-menu li {
    float: left;
    width: 150px;
}

In there ( i can adjust px later)?

As I say I can only find one css folder. Did this and nothing happend to the nav menu but my galleria slide show stopped working. just had the loading spinning wheel running.
As you say your not sure if the code is correct but is this in the correct ball park of what to do?

Cheers

#21 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-15 09:27:19

Hand holding please. So at the moment the css/folder is blank. I put this new code
ul {  ?does something go here?
    margin: 0 auto;
    width: 600px;
    }

li { ? and here?
    float: left;
    width: 150px;
    }
in that folder with the px values as needed.

"but you'll need to get specific with the selectors so that you only target the <ul> and <li> items in the nav menu"  where is this information kept? Also I need to do this for every temp... gallerie..theme. auto index..cart etc?
Please if you could be very specific in plain( i'm a builder  English), that would be great. I've been looking at this screen for the past 3 1/2 weeks and i'm getting confused again. Once i've done it once i should be ok.

Cheers

Rob

when I implement the custom functions it says that I need to do this for every plug in. I can only find 1 plugin.php file to edit in the galleries folder?

#22 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-15 01:05:25

ok sort of get that. This code would be put into each template? is this in the custom css file in the plugins folder?

somewhere in this lot?

#23 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-14 23:48:00

Is this "On centering drop-down menus: http://community.theturninggate.net/post/10035/#p10035" to centre the main nav titles to the nav container and not the actual drop down boxes? So that I don't have to use the padding left/right sliders to centralise the titles.

#24 Re: General » Can i fix this. » 2014-01-14 17:20:07

How do i centre the nav bar? and what are media queries? Also is there an easy way to change and dupe settings. It seems as though every time you need to change something and sync all the temps you then you have to upload all the files again and re do all the md text etc. I'm sure this is really simple for most people on here as building a house is to me, but this is my first go.

Things are moving on nicely. I like the desktop and ipad look but not the iphone. Is there any way to have a cropped version of the header and also something happens to the drop down menu where the box's don't seem to scale down and have loads cropped off. I've checked and un checked all the mobile boxs in the temps I can find.
www.catchlightimaging.com.au. don't look too much at the content as the galleries need to be finalised. I'm just trying to get the site to function first.
